Dean Supporters: Your opinion on the Newsweek article on Dean this week
Any comments? Did you think it was a hit piece, or was it flattering to the candidate?

The article they ran on Dean when he first surged in the polls seemed to be pretty flattering, well as much as Newsweek could be. This new one seems to be a hit piece of sorts.

But what are your thoughts? Remember, I'm not really a Dean supporter (well I support him, but he's not who I will be voting for on Super Tuesday.)

1. Howie Fineman
has been after Dean for some time now. I really don't care what Newsweek has to say. I thought the TIME cover story was pretty even handed though.

2. I preferred the Time article on Dean to the Newsweek hit piece on
Dean because the Time article was fair and stressed both Dean's strengths as well as his weaknesses where the Newsweek was all about, weakness, perceived weakness, concocted weakness, spun-out-of-the-air weakness, etc.

3. I just saw it on the newstand at Walgreens.
There were 3 Time Magazines and 15-20 Newsweeks. People here don't seen to like the cover. Haven't read it.

4. I saw the title--The Dean Dilemma, and knew it was going to be a hit job,
so I passed.

That's all there's gonna be about Dean right now, since the other dems, and the media are out to get him. If he weathers this, he'll once again get great coverage until the general election begins.

The media goes in cucyles because they're stupid and predictable. It's pretty friggin scary that such ignorant people have so much power.

8. Probably should read it
Because that's what you're going to face - people read that stuff and then make up their mind unless otherwise countered.

From what I could tell - they seemed to really overblow his "flip flopping." They don't provide the context that his supposed "flip flopping" came from - and it does put everything into context.

BTW...irregardless of who I support, I do think Joe Trippi is a genius and after the dust has settled I'd like to see more on him.

5. The Time article was fair. It showed us both sides of....
Howard Dean, as it should. This should be considered an example of what Journalism should be. The Newsweek article bordered on being a Hit piece. It was shameless. I guess that Newsweek prides itself on being printed on toilet paper.

6. I have yet to decide on a candidate, but I did read the piece
I don't think they were very fair with him. I wonder if the media is getting tired and wants to cover something new. (This next sentence is not an attack) That might explain why there has been so much coverage of Clark gaining on Dean in one national poll (again, not an attack, it just seems like a lot of coverage for one poll).

But back to the article, it seems to look at each of Dean's position from the negative side of the fence. Maybe they will run a similar piece on Bush later in the year. I will stop typing so you can laugh.

Just my thoughts.

7. Howie Fineman at his whorish zenith
I thought it a piece of Fineman crap. Howie is probably determined to shoot down any Dem front runner.

I'm a Dean supporter who also likes Clark. I'll be curious to see how the Whores like Fineman go after the General.

I dropped my subscription to Newsweek over the Clinton impeachment - and told them so. Issikof is another inhuman whore.

But my MIL gets it and brings it over each week. I usually trash it without reading, but I gave the anti-Dean article a shot...for about a page and a half. Yep - Howie the Whore was at his furrowed-brow best! I skipped to the called out interview with Dean (nothing to read there), skipped to the Larry David article (much of it I had already read in TV Guide at the Rx's office yesterday. Different mags, same article & pix. Go figure?) - and THEN I trashed it.
