Did you see that little twit Palin on Colbert? |
|
She cracked a really lame joke about her son being the only Iraqi soldier with a snow mobile.
C'mon, Sarah, get better writers or at least crack fun of yourself, like Pres. Obama did.
Humility is NOT her strong suit.

12. I'm beginning to think it's all been a dream. |
|
I THOUGHT we'd elected someone who promised to end the wars, bring transparency to government, and was a fierce supporter of gay rights.
Am I dreaming? Because the man in the office may look different, but some of his policies sure stink like the previous occupant of the Oval Office.
Whatever happened to the guy who made all those promises? Surely he didn't say those things to just get elected, because if he did he's the same as all the others.

20. Every politician breaks promises, but this does not mean that all politicians are "the same". |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 09:39 AM by SemiCharmedQuark
Kennedy, Nixon, Lincoln, Hoover, FDR, Buchanan, Clinton and W. all said things to get elected and they are not all the same. Does this mean that breaking promises was the right thing to do? No. Does it mean that they were correct to break these promises? No. It only means that binary thinking does not serve us well.
This is why I find the "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" meme to be faulty. Rather, one could more accurately say, as you did "I agree with X Y Z, I disagree with A B C."
The "New Boss Same as the Old Boss" reasoning gave us W. You will never ever convince me that we'd be where we are now if Al Gore had been inaugurated in 2001. But no. Rather than look at each issue critically, people just threw up their hands and said "Well, they're both shit on *this* issue, I guess they must just be the same on *all* issues."

21. I guess a lot of it depends on exactly which issues are the most important to you. |
|
If you're gay, and you are experiencing discrimination on a daily basis, or if you're about to be thrown out of the military because of it, obviously it will be pretty important to you.
If you're sick and have no health care, that would be an urgency that would be very important to you and those around you.
I agree that if Al Gore had been in office instead of *, things would be very much different (for the better) in this country today. Obama needs to figure out that he will lose support from those who have an interest in the promises he made and doesn't keep. If he expects to have the opportunity at a second term, he needs to get moving on some of these issues. Every day that goes by, he loses support.

get a laugh from the crowd.
It would make my day, as you know her and Tawd and the brood were probably all sitting around the teevee, breathless at the infinite cheers they were sure they would get....and didn't.
Saw it the first two nights and both the President and the Big Dawg got some laughs. So the contrast would be very, very interesting!

25. The woman is tone deaf. She's obviously proven this yet again. |
|
Her son after all was deployed from an Alaskan outfit. What makes her think her son is the only one with a snow machine?
It's all about Sarah. The woman doesn't know how to conceive a thought that doesn't orbit around her tiny, self-absorbed universe.

I'm so sick of her and her kids' names and the "snow machine" comments and her faux outrage about the "media elite" and the "NY/Hollywood entertainers who don't understand the REAL America" and on and on and on and on...
