Fox news commentary this morning... Obama is losing the left..
Edited on Sun Jun-14-09 08:30 AM by Peacetrain
They were quoting a Bill Maher piece in the Los Angeles Times:

"President Obama should just join the cast of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" It's not that farfetched; he's been on everything else.

I'm still a fan, but there's a fine line between being transparent and being overexposed. Every time you turn on the TV, there's Obama. He's getting a puppy! He's eating a cheeseburger with Joe Biden! He's taking the wife to Broadway and Paris -- this is the best season of "The Bachelor" yet!"

First of all, libertarians drive me nuts http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5840639&mesg_id=5840639
Trying to make sense of anything they have to say, is like drowning in pudding.

Maher went on and on.. and I had to laugh. Maher you clueless kumquat, anyone who got into office and started to try and move things around, (and before you jump on my head saying he has not done enough.. let me add, he never will be able to do enough, we are that far off the game in the country. No ones needs are going to be met by the swipe of the magical wand), would be getting a tremendous amount of press, because they have so many issues to tackle.

But besides all that, the President is the first person of color to hold that office. It is monumental. He will always, always, always, have more attention and expectations on his shoulders good and bad.

So now the Fox people and their ilk think they see daylight. The right got away with Palin making that snarky comment about Obama and "he who must be obeyed", no one challenged her on it. We voters can tackle our elected officials like that.. But elected officials can not. But apparently now they can as long as they are rightsiders.

It just tickles my funny bone to watch the right side, looking for chinks in the dam so they can start to weasel back into power.. But Bill Maher.. that is desperation

Edit to add: How perfectly clueless can any group be, to try and assign libertarians to either democrats or republicans. And to correct the spelling of Maher's name. I left out the e. Thank you for the heads up further down the line

Their next segment on FauxNewsSunday will address the pressing question: "Is Obama an enemy of the free market? Our next guest thinks so..."

so instructive on how the right is going to move the next day, or next week. You can see the marching orders going out to hate radio etc. But Bill Maher? even the far left, does not claim Bill Maher

3. its a twofer
they can slime Obama and further malign the "left". That said I always expected that the "internet left" would act on this manner. People used to writing up op-eds and blog posts of outrage cant just change on a dime.

6. Don't read DU if you want an idea of what people really think about Obama
just like during the primaries and the election, this place has no bearing on what's going on in the real world. Fortunately.

9. Obama's not as progressive in some areas as I would like
and I get the "don't trust the Republicans, they won't give you votes on anything anyway" line. But the idea that Obama is just galavanting in front of the tv and hasn't done ANYTHING since taking office seems pretty stupid to me. Sure, get annoyed by the pop culture-y stuff that the media does, but I really think that Obama would just assume not do that stuff if it were up to him. That Brian Williams special is done every white house.

12. Peacetrain, you know what's fucked up about Grandma Palin
calling Obama that ("he who must be obeyed") when he told the press to keep away from the children, he meant HER CHILDREN TOO. He was DEFENDING HER CHILDREN. And yet she's too dumb to realize that.

16. He hasn't lost me yet, but I wish he would stop trying to
I'm angry about the DOJ's brief in the challenge to DOMA, and Obama's lack of words and action on DADT. But overall I'm still supportive of his attempt to reform healthcare and the goal of the stimulus.

I'm still waiting on something positive for the GLBT community.

him. They can push this garbage all the want, the real world isn't listening. They really hate seeing a popular president...they cannot stand it.
