Michelle Obama, Queen Elizabeth's Friendship Revealed After She And Daughters Get Rare Private Tour
LONDON — First came the hug, then a guided tour of Buckingham Palace.

First Lady Michelle Obama, on a visit to London last week, got permission from Queen Elizabeth II for a guided tour of the palace with her daughters, Sasha and Malia.

They were shown around the queen's official residence and its gardens and the queen herself greeted them afterward, according to a royal source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was private.

In April, during a visit to Britain with her husband, Michele Obama made a warm impression on the queen _ so much so that the monarch strayed from protocol and briefly wrapped her arm around the first lady in a rare public show of affection. The first lady also put her arm around the monarch.

Now where's that sarcasm icon?

All kidding aside, what a life for those young girls! Can you imagine what they will write in their report "What we did on summer vacation".... Paris and London all in the first week.

18. ZOMG!! The Birthers are right!!!
Obama was born in Kenya like they said. At the time he was born, that would make him a British Citizen. He's been a secret monarchist plant all this time to return the errant colonies to the Motherland of Brittania. I see it all so clearly now. OMGWTFBBQ!!!

Oh yeah, :sarcasm:

She evidently is quite fond of Michelle.

The Queen now has a veggie garden at Buckingham Palace, the first since WWII - she and Michelle can compare notes about their gardens!

GROUND FARCE 1
Queen's fury as Bush goons wreck garden

Nov 23 2003
Exclusive By Terry O'Hanlon

THE Queen is furious with President George W. Bush after his state visit caused thousands of pounds of damage to her gardens at Buckingham Palace.

Royal officials are now in touch with the Queen's insurers and Prime Minister Tony Blair to find out who will pick up the massive repair bill. Palace staff said they had never seen the Queen so angry as when she saw how her perfectly-mantained lawns had been churned up after being turned into helipads with three giant H landing markings for the Bush visit.

The rotors of the President's Marine Force One helicopter and two support Black Hawks damaged trees and shrubs that had survived since Queen Victoria's reign.

And Bush's army of clod-hopping security service men trampled more precious and exotic plants.

The Queen's own flock of flamingoes, which security staff insisted should be moved in case they flew into the helicopter rotors, are thought to be so traumatised after being taken to a "place of safety" that they might never return home.

The historic fabric of the Palace was also damaged as high-tech links were fitted for the US leader and his entourage during his three-day stay with the Queen.

Somehow I think the Obama girls (all 3 of them) were perfectly well-mannered, and that so was President Obama before them.

He actually SPUTTERED, yes, SPUTTERED with anger.

It wasn't until I told him that the Queen had hugged Michelle first that he calmed down but he was still muttering "You don't EVER touch the Queen" for about 15 minutes afterwards. :)

Edited on Mon Jun-15-09 10:24 PM by Captain Hilts
When asked why he wasn't rougher on James in his memoirs, Truman said it was because "that boy's mother is one of the greatest people who ever lived."

The Roosevelt kids were all pretty high maintenance.

One’s spuds are coming up a treat: Queen grows fruit and veg at Palace for first time since war
By Martin Delgado
Last updated at 1:16 AM on 14th June 2009
Comments (0) Add to My Stories The Queen is growing fruit and vegetables in the grounds of Buckingham Palace – for the first time since the Second World War.

Onions, leeks, beans, tomatoes, lettuce and potatoes have been planted and the first strawberries from the 30ft by 13ft plot have already hit the Royal kitchens.

The Queen’s produce will feed several hundred palace workers and will be served up at formal state banquets.
