Question: When will Franken's term officially start?
For the sake of simplicity, if he were seated today, would he be up for election in 6 years? Or would his term only be 5 years 5 months?

1. I'd think Door #2 is the answer. Not a full 6-year term.

2. That assumes Normie won't still be fighting the election in 5 1/2 years
After the Supreme Court, I hear he plans to appeal to the Iranian mullahs.

3. It has nothing to do with when he's sworn in.
The next election for that seat (unless it becomes vacant) is in November 2014.

4. I wonder if it has become a record yet.. of time spent before the elected official
gets to take the oath of office.

I would tend to think, this is going to sink the Republican Party in Minnesota. They got a bit of a toe hold up there during the Bush years, but Minnesotans (my hubby is one) are the essence of fair game players. I think this nonsense with Coleman will have ramifications with the Republican Party they never expected
