That those who are denied access to even basic health care are shit out of luck...

Senate Finance received an initial high cost estimate of $1.6 trillion and Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said lawmakers were looking to trim planned subsidies for the uninsured.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., would only say: "We'll be ready when we're ready, but we're not there yet."

The Finance Committee, which oversees taxes, is comprised of more moderate lawmakers than Kennedy's panel and is considered Congress' best hope of producing a bipartisan bill.

The measure before Kennedy's committee would cost about $1 trillion over 10 years, but leave 37 million people uninsured, according to an analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

So this round of so-called reform will only leave 37 million out of luck...

Nice goin' guys. Why the fuck even bother...

1. Oregon has what Obama's proposing
And just passed health premium taxes to extend coverage. I'm glad I live in a state where the left supports whatever Kitzhaber tells them to support. At least I'll still have my subsidized health insurance after the left gets through helping the right destroy everything good in the Kennedy plan.

2. Is your tax high?
And are the Repubs in your state up in arms over the tax?

It appears that a tax may have to be seriously considered for a national plan.

4. Of course they are
But our left didn't fight the bill and draw attention to every little detail and call it a giveaway to the insurance industry either.

3. Old Joke: "Life is like a shit sandwich"
The more bread you got, the less shit you gotta eat...

Obama stalwarts can chirp and chide over and over that he never promised universal health care, pacificism, gay rights, environmental restraint or a host of other airy possibilities, but the evidence is starkly clear that he and his campaign SUGGESTED and bandied about all sorts of emotional fig-leaves of fairness and change with an attempt to sweep people along with "faith" and "trust" and "hope". Whether it's outright deception or just slick advertising is open to debate, but the result remains the same: many people were suckered into expecting significantly more progressivism from this operation.

8. For crying out loud...
Why even bother indeed.

I am appalled. And very disappointed to hear this.

9. Christ...how many times do we have to go over this?
THE CBO SCORED THE INCOMPLETE BILL. IT WAS A DRAFT. IT SAYS THAT IN THE ARTICLE.

10. I know it stated that in the article...
But, as all my experience in the political arena tells me, you come out with much more than you will settle for. It is far easier to subtract onerous measures from the bill than add controversial stuff later on. Especially if you are in control of the process.

That is my point.
