LOL. He looks like walking death. And he interviews like crap. Anyone would have been better from NBC/MSNBC.

2. Russert was grooming Chuck to be his replacement
but the powers that be, probably thought he had not "paid his dues" yet, so Gregory got the big job..

Oddly, I think Chuck Todd likes what he's doing, and may not have wanted MTP.

3. I don't know what made them think Gregory was a good pick
for MTP. What on earth made them think that was a good idea.

6. I'm not that impressed with Chuck Todd
why the knock on Gregory about his age? Jeezzzzeee. He's not great on meet the Press but he isn't very old.

I don't like the way Chuck Todd frames his questions - my impression is that he uses right wing frames rather that asking truly objective questions.

11. lol... kinda what I was thinkin' but didn't want to knock Russert
He was good sometimes - I think his historical knowledge on elections was interesting. I do believe that he was a fan of history and sometimes that passion leaked out - and it was fun to watch. But yeah - he did use right-wing frames a lot.

and still... why the knock on Gregory's age? I just had a birthday. I'm a little sensitive. lol.

welcome to DU.

12. Strange...
Your OP seemed to imply you LIKED Russert and Chuck Todd and thought Todd should've gotten MTP instead of David Gregory. :eyes:

narrative, despite facts to the contrary..

nor did Tim Russert. I could not believe the media hype surrounding Russert's death.

13. I openly hope for the decline of MP's ratings every week.

Chuck Todd, Chris Mathews and KO all would have been more controversial choices. But I bet the ratings would be better.

It takes a lot to sink something like MP in less than a year. But the oldest 38 year old on the planet is doing just that!

15. Chuck todd failed to get his nose as far up Tom Brokaw's ass as David Gregory
That's why he's getting shitty fill in gigs while Gregory's taking MTP ratings down the crapper.

But I think Chucky learns fast. He's already sounding just like the typical liberal media reporter asking gotcha questions of Dems while kissing republican ass.

He's not going to get out beltwayed by Gregory. And when David gets canned by NBC after MTP is down to about 34 viewers, Chucky will be there to pick up the pieces.

Remember when he used to be on KO all the time? How long has it been since you've seen him on there?

He knows which side his bread is buttered on.

16. He is not a natural - it was awkward and amateurish at best - and I rooted for him to get MTP

I think he has lost his confidence since Russert left and isn't good in being casual if he is on the dealing end of the cards. He needs a visit from Tony Robbins or something. Winging it and going with the flow is something he can learn but it wasn't evident in the show. I actually stopped watching, it was so bad - and I didn't think anyone could be worse than Huffington was on her MSNBC fill-in.

19. Can not stand Gregory...but he's like a decade younger than
President Obama. And me.

If Gregory is 'older than death', what is the term that you would use for President Obama, who is far older than that? Just out of curiosity. If you met the President, would you say, gee you are 10 years older than death! Would you?

20. Chuck Todd is unwatchable.
He was horrendous on Hardball last night. He even made that hack David Gregory look decent in comparison.

21.  GE corrupted Russert, Its doing it to Gregory and it is
likely to get Chuck as well. Jack Welch takes these guys to the mountaintop at an early age. He shows them the limos, the private planes and the houses on Nantucket. If they are willing to sell their journalistic souls, they have a future at GE owned and ruined NBC. If not they move on. What other than a puppy dog willingness to spout Republican talking points explains Matt Lauer and David Gregory.I think Todd is a likeable politics geek. He is being groomed for better things including MTP unless Gregory can salvage his shot. Frankly, I like Todd the way I liked the young Russert. I just hope Chuck finds some journalistic integrity and does not become a Lauer,Gregory clone.
