2. Obama playing chess
Republicans playing tiddly winks.

Republicans fire a few winks across the bow.

Obama lays down king without a move.

5. Perhaps
But then one must ask ... what objectives are achieved by winning the game?

The "chess player" metaphor can only carry so far. At some point, even in chess, strategic objectives and tactics become clear in the development of the pieces. I ain't all that happy with what the movement of the pieces suggests so far. But the story is not over.

10. I hate that phrase
It's what the Freepers always said about Bush and Rove when they were apparently struggling.

20 points down in the polls? They're playing checkers, and we're playing chess.

Please, nobody use this anymore.

32. I remembered the same thing...
It can be true, but most of the time I think it's a wishful thinking technique whereby we can justify the people we respect making somewhat poor or unclear decision.

Perhaps we peer too closely too soon...but then..we have no choice but to wait 2 years...the time frame most experts use as worst case scenario...

The King and advisors are still looking good despite criticism from pol foes and foes pretending to be friends...They have managed to stem the ressession spiral a bit .... a promising sign....still the overall pic is dire but positive signs still lurking..

not yet on that c'mate

15. That's a nice, trite little statement meant to reassure us that Obama has everything under control,
that he is so far above the rest of us mortals in making his machiavellian strategic moves. As time goes on and reality sets in I am getting more doubtful and the proof of the pudding is in the eating. There had better be more than words and promises. Something like results would be nice, but I am willing to give that more time but I don't buy the chess/checkers thing. Not yet, at least.

I certainly hope that when Obama's time is done that we will not feel a sense of disappointment considering what might have been. I hope that Obama can leave a clear legacy of doing something good and historically outstanding for the average American.

desire this to be how his/her constituents to feel about them? Again, I find it difficult to determine whether a post is being made tongue-in-cheek, sarcastically or seriously.
