Poll: Quitah From Wasilla Still Tied For First In 2012 GOP Primary
Poll: Quitah From Wasilla Still Tied For First In 2012 GOP Primary

Some striking numbers in a new Rasmussen poll find that even though Sarah Palin quit the relatively less demanding job of Governor of Alaska, she’s still statistically tied for first among Republican voters for the 2012 nomination for president:

I know it’s a long way off, but suppose the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary were held in your state today. If you had a choice between Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Haley Barbour and Tim Pawlenty, for whom would you vote?

25% Romney

24% Palin

22% Huckabee

14% Gingrich

What makes these numbers particularly interesting is that 40% of Republicans say her decision to bail hurts her chances of winning the nomination, which suggests she’s a polarizing figure even among Republicans. Indeed, she’s also tied for first among Republicans over who they would least like to see as their 2012 nominee.

Stilll, even though the Bailin’ Barracuda has basically revealed that the Alaska Governorship was too big a fish tank for her to handle, she’s still statistically tied for first among Republicans for the biggest job of all. That speaks volumes about the intensity and commitment of what we may as well call the Palin wing of the GOP.

9. That's my thinking
She doesn't have the talent to put together a national campaign. All she has is star power, like Rudy and Fred. And we all remember what happened to them (though if anyone has forgotten Fred already, that's totally understandable).

11. Do you think Romney won't call Palin a quitter in the primary debates?

That would be the funniest damn thing and I wouldn't miss it! Imagine Palin's pursed lips when Wilbur goes on the attack...

12. That's honestly surprising.
I know she has some hardcore cultish supporters, but a quarter of the Republicans? Anyone with a half a brain can see she's not a viable candidate for anything, regardless of ideology.

15. Something to keep in mind.....
The Incredible Shrinking GOP: Only 20 Percent Self-Identify As Republican

Okay, this is striking. Earlier this week a Washington Post poll made a big splash because it found that only 21 percent self-identify as Republicans. The abysmally low number got pundits and reporters talking about whether the GOP is shrinking to the point of irrelevance.

Now we have another poll that finds that the number of self-identified Republicans has dropped even lower: 20 percent.

At this rate, soon the only Republicans left will be her hardcore cultish supporters.

13. 2012
The fact palin Is basiclly tied with romeny shows you how out of touch with reality Republicans really are.Of course on another board
some think Obama will be so easy to beat, and he Is another Carter.

Her supprters are also crazy Is they think Romney, and huckabee will not call her a quitter. And consider what would happen If she
were to win the nomination.Obama will have people ready to blast her If she can survive romney,Huckabee, and Gingrich. She would get
killed In debate with Obama. If Mccain couldn't win debates against him Palin would be even worst.

Of course I hope they are stupid enough to nominate her since It would be even better for Democrats.
