I don't get a vote. It's seven - that's 7 years, including USCIS progressing for citizenship. Married to an American? Tough shit. The queues are lengthening as a result of deliberate policy. Funding cuts, charges doubled and tripled. In the longer term, if the US does not get decent health care, I'll think again about us living in Australia. There's A lot I love about the US and a sad list of 'not so much'. Indifference to Poverty would be high on that.

35. I live here. I care about America.
Perhaps having lived in foreign counties.I see the positives afresh: The potential, the possibilities, the ideals on the hill. The MSM comes over as a alternative reality. I did not grow up with these channels. The speech which moved me the most was Barack's 'A More Perfect Union' address. I had not thought through yjr implications of the United States connoting enormous challenges in that way before. A Heroic struggle. The relentless image of the US outside Americai a 'Shiny Shiny' society.- The richest nation on earth that has it easy. That and a hair trigger for war and violence . You never ever see poverty or hard core discrimination on TV. Well Hardly ever. You see even less of dissent.

40. that's where I'm at
Health care is the dealbreaker. Do this right. Or at least partially right (public option) or don't bother.

As it is, I doubt I'll vote for either of my senators or my congressman in the primaries, because all three have voted too many times on the side of corporatism and cowardice.

Will I vote for any of them in a General Election, if they win the primary?

Time (and their votes) will tell.

36. Nick Clegg.
General Election in UK in 2010, virutally guaranteed. David Cameron will win.

If the situation arose that in 2010 I become US Citizen and the government is performing pretty much as it has been so far, then Democratic is pretty much a shoe-in. How hard I would work supporting the candidates would depend on if health care reform did take shape and was real reform that was real beneficial and allowed everyone access to healthcare that they can afford.

My purpose was to get some sense of hard line Democrats on DU, not to disparage other Progressives. Nevertheless, serious Palin advocates can jump right of the cliff she flung herself from, hoping that somebody with big money hands would catch her.

However, if Obama fails to deliver on a strong public option for health care insurance and ending the wars in the Middle East then I may not campaign for him or contribute financially as I did in 2008.

58. Health Care is Huge, Every one else has failed to deliver.
I've seen hybrid single payer in Australia. The Public Scheme is called Medicare, available to all, and more comprehensive that the US scheme of the same name. No body goes broke with cancer or a stroke. No co-pays in Public Hospitals Chronic Illness treated immediately Private 'a la carte' insurance remains, covering areas not covered by Medicare, like single beds or no waiting hip replacements.
