Obama walks back Rahm on public option! Sanders BLASTS Rahm
Statement from the President on Health Care Reform

"I am pleased by the progress we're making on health care reform and still believe, as I've said before, that one of the best ways to bring down costs, provide more choices, and assure quality is a public option that will force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest. I look forward to a final product that achieves these very important goals."

Update: Obama walks back Rahm on public option! Sanders BLASTS Rahm

"Now, where we are right now politically is the HELP Committee, of which I'm a member, is going to bring forth a public plan," Sanders added. "The House of Representatives is supporting a public plan. And President Obama ran for office talking about a strong public plan. Why, with that political reality of the American people wanting it, the House going forward, the Senate HELP Committee going forward, would Rahm Emanuel suggest that we would compromise on this issue?"

4. The question is, how can you?
Keeping in mind that you were the one claiming Rahm's statements were a lie.

Obama does not walk back Rahm, if you were honest you would admit it. Walking back would entail disavowing the triggers, not just a generic restating of a preference for a public option.

5. Time for everyone to remember -
the reason why Rahm lost his job in the Clinton White House...

(1) He was a major leaker

(2) He was running his own agenda and used leaks to push/control his own agenda.

I guess Obama and Axelrod trusted him to change his stripes. Once a skunk, always a skunk.

6. Can't help but wonder if it's just a fuck up by Rahm, or if he's going rogue.

11. Rahm would not 'be going rogue' on Health Care
There is no more important item on Obama's agenda. What's going on, I haven't a clue, but for better or worse, it's premedited, When it come to the crunch it will be Rahm ripping waivering arms off.

your post says nothing of the sort. Further, your links don't either - unless you count a KOS diarist claiming it to be so, saying things like "Well apparently the White House has realized ..." and "I have a feeling that when..."

LOL! Some of you are so desperate for a "win" you're making shit up.

Got a thing for Rahm?

The first link is Obama's official statement. Take it anyway you choose to.

"As I've said before, that one of the best ways to bring down costs, provide more choices, and assure quality is a public option that will force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest. I look forward to a final product that achieves these very important goals."

-- President Obama, in a statement earlier today.

"The goal is to have a means and a mechanism to keep the private insurers honest. The goal is non-negotiable; the path is negotiable."

-- White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, quoted by the Wall Street Journal, suggesting the administration is flexible on the public option.

There's nothing in either of those quotes that suggest the public option is being taken off the table.

19. Yes. Allowing private insurance IS a compromise.
A serious one. Private insurers have proven an expensive liability; they are welfare for the executive class.
