Edited on Wed Jul-08-09 06:07 PM by jenmito
Biden spoke this morning about hospitals being on board with helping reduce the cost of health-care reform, and MSNBC kept showing the podium but cut away after a few words. Then they replayed Andrea Mitchell's interview of Palin about 25 times throughout the day and discuss HER future. :wtf:

46. True, but she was in the news
because SHE created the stories that put her in the limelight. No one paid much attention to Letterman's joke until she made a big stink about it and it was primarily to get publicity. She does not want to go quietly into the night. When this all dies down, she will find another way to draw attention to herself.

Meanwhile, our VP has been to Bosnia and Iraq, and the media pretty much ignored those real news stories. They only pay attention to Biden if they can twist something he says into a gaffe, often by quoting it out of context.

49. True...
she's always putting herself in the limelight claiming to be a victim of the MSM while in the next breath saying attacks on her are NOTHING compared to the attacks on our "brave troops." She always finds a way to mention the troops.

51. Its all just tactics on her part
She is going to milk her fame for everything she can while she can. People are forgotten so quickly these days and she's looking to make some big bucks - TV, book tours, speaking engagements, etc. and no one will want her if she's "yesterday's news". Screw political office, too much work and not enough money.

53. Yup...
and she specifically said she didn't want to milk her time as a "lame duck" since THAT'S "politics as usual" (as is finishing your term). She can continue to play the victim of the "mean" "elite" MSM but it will NOT make her an attractive candidate for president. It MAY work to give her her own show on Faux or something like that.

55. Great Palin translation
"Politics as usual" really means WORKING! She has a history of a very short attention span. I don't think she really wants to president, though she might enjoy the attention that goes with running for it. It did wonders for Huckabee, who would have just faded away in Arkansas if he hadn't run for higher office.

She is handling all this pretty much like a Hollywood celebrity, looking for any and all opportunities to get covered by the MSM. I don't think she gave a crap about Letterman's little joke, but attacking a high profile personality got her the desired exposure. All the late night comedians make Palin jokes, but she strategically chose Letterman.

45. You know..I wanted to ask someone about that..
Didn't the corporatemedia send any representatives on this G8 Summit Trip?

If they did wouldn't they need to report back? I got more information on the G8 Summit on the Canadian station talking about Stephen Harper than anywhere except the pics from Jackeens(which, granted, tell a lot).

The American people are the ones who miss out..and the mediawhores are going to be left holding an empty bag on this Historical Summit.

Did you know they were set to hold it in Sardinia but opted for L'Aquila to bring World attention on the Earthquake that happened there on April 6, 2009.

<snip>>

"Silvio Berlusconi said today that he would move the G8 summit in July from Sardinia to L'Aquila, the centre of the Abruzzo earthquake, and divert the money saved to help reconstruction of the stricken region.

After holding a Cabinet meeting in L'Aquila for the second time since the April 6 earthquake, Mr Berlusconi said that the cost of holding the summit on the Sardinian island of La Maddalena would have been €220 million (£196 million), money better spent on reconstruction efforts in Abruzzo.

The earthquake killed 295 people, drove 50,000 from their homes, and damaged or destroyed medieval and modern buildings in and around L'Aquila. Mr Berlusconi, the current G8 chairman, insisted that despite the earthquake damage there were enough hotels and conference venues for the delegations and journalists."

It's pretty horrible what's being done. However, it's not just Biden, they misquote Obama and I saw the plenty of misquotes on this site being pimped around about Rahm. I almost blew a gasket when I saw the article people were talking about. Two things were quoted from Rahm and none of it about the public option. The rest of it was an op-ed based on the writers interpretations. It's such a joke---and to see DUers believing it, is annoying to say the least.

Palin is entertainment, period.

I know beforehand that nothing momentous, earth-shaking or intelligent will come of a news article featuring Sarah Palin.

I may have to endure water-skiing squirrels and Virgin Mary tree stumps on the news, but when Biden's name is mentioned, I start paying attention. Palin? Not so much.

because for some reason, people have short memories..iow...they aren't going to ever forget her name...but they might forget what brought her name to their attention...Free publicity IS free publicity, after all...so we keep talking about her for the next 4 years, and then we'll act surprised when she ends up prominent in the next election....and so far, free publicity doesn't seem to hurt most of the Republican politicians...only the Democrats who have been found wanting/wandering...wb
