Gnashing of Teeth by Conservative Christian Bloggers over Pope's visit with Obama

I hate to say "I told you so," but I did. And, the truth be told, in this instance, I do not hate telling you that I was prescient when I predicted the upcoming visit of President Obama to Pope Benedict would occasion gnashing of teeth within the conservative blogosphere. What has been especially curious, and flattering in its way, has been the venom sent my way for merely asking the question how or why it is so different for Pope Benedict to receive Obama than it was for Notre Dame to invite him to be their commencement speaker.

A very well-written blog, and the comment section shows a level of intelligent discussion that you don't usually see in comment sections.

1. The Pope should have thrown holy water on Obama and watched him dissolve.
That'd teach him.

3. Denominational arguments seem a bit silly, for me some of my favorite people are Catholic.
some not so much, but I shouldn't judge, although being imperfect I still get frustrated at groups that do not seem to follow the teachings of their own religion. Jesus Christ taught us to love our neighbor, then said our neighbor included someone of a different culture. And he said to love our enemies, so I don't understand how people can use hate and Christianity together in their comments even if they disagree with President Obama. And many Christians agree with many things he has done.

Although not Catholic myself, I think of myself as a follower of Jesus Christ. Although I make lots of mistakes, and is thankful for the grace of God. I didn't learn many traditions of religious organizations, but I know God loves us. And I respect many catholics immensely, I actually feel great love for them because of the examples many of them have set for me to try and reach in my life.
