Gallup: Obama support among liberals increases, among conservatives declines significantly
Gallup's breakdown of Obama's support shows that among people who consider themselves liberal he not only continues to have astronomically high numbers but that those numbers have gone up - from 85% to 88%

It also remains very high among people identifying themselves as Democrats and high among Independents. His support among Republicans has declined significantly

His overall support remains high

This chart is somewhat misleading because it would be relevent only if Obama were running against his prior self. A more interesting number would be a match up against a likely Republican candidate.

4. Most Presidents see the numbers drop
from the opposing party after the inauguration. During the inaugural and shortly after that everybody wants to feel all warm and fuzzy and "support", at least in name only, the new President. By the time a few bills have crossed the desk and he's provided some guidance on his governing idea the opposing party starts to drop off.

I don't really understand why people are paying attention to any kind of poll right now unless it's something related to a specific issue. The fact that he's still high among independents and astronomically high among Dems suggests that he's doing pretty well.

Personally I don't want conservatives (small or large C) to like him. I despise their ideals and would hate it if the President was making those pricks happy in any way.

6. How do they see an increase in support from liberals? Range is 87-90% since Feb. No upward trend.

without seeing previous months (and whether or not these differences are statistically reliable), you cannot conclude anything from Jan.

9. Media
All you hear among them Is his numbers dropping so he must losing support for his programs.Remember back In 1993 Bill Clinton was
at 35 percent approvol, and Bush was at 45 percent approvoal back at this time in 2001.

For me as long as the 53 percent who voted for him over mccain approve that Is all that Is needed.Any over that Is just icing on the
cake.

14. You could even argue for a "ceiling effect" - approval is so high among liberals it would be pretty
impossible to expect it to go any higher (esp. when we're talking about Dems who always find something to disagree on).

I'm saying that many on DU are making excuses for policies floated by Obama that they would never, ever excuse if made by, let's say, Joe Lieberman (when he was a democrat).

22. How much of these shifting numbers are due to change in affilation?
For example, this time a year ago, a Democratic friend of mine was a Republican.

How do we count her?

If there are moderates who now identify themselves as liberals, would that not skew the results?

That's the problem with polls .... the darned sampling percentages.

Edited on Thu Jul-09-09 05:36 PM by jmondine
No matter how many bones you throw them in Washington, it won't matter. Conservatives do not get their news from reliable sources, and the Foxes and Rushes of the world will not be satisfied with anything less than your complete and utter defeat.
In the words of Bonnie Raitt, "Give 'em something to talk about".

29. His numbers are diving, but they paid off Gallup for one full year
How many people here have ever been part of a Gallup Poll?

Regardless of how many volunteer to answer this question positively, the fact of the matter is that with the appointment of Michael Taylor to the USDA, Obama has lost any support from me, or any Organic Farmer, or person that knows how fucked up our food supply really is.

I wonder how many rural families are going to be so happy about Obama when his Monsanto cronies like Vilsack and Taylor totally ignore the absolute pollution caused by uncontrolled CAFOS that show up one day next door, pollute the air water and soil with the most malodorous, mountainous quanities of shit possible.

How many people are going to support a party that absolutley ignores the serious concerns about GMO and promotes the status quo?

Food may not bother you people, but whether you notice it or not, as you finish off that bag of Ruffles follwed with a sip of Diet Coke and a bite of your Slim Jims, you are being slowly poisoned, stupefied, and fattened up.

Is your Colon Roundup Ready?

I represent a lot of people, Farmers specifically, that were already suspicious of all the DLC like stuff he has been up to.

Me, or me and all the people I know, it makes no diff to you, but I really couldn't care less. I don't need a cooked poll to tell me or my friends how to think.
