Some people need to get a sense of humor. So a photo of the President of the United States was caught in a misleading photo. Is it the end of the world? No. Yet those who would step in front of a speeding train in order to shield him are about to die from their over-wrought sense of indignation that someone would think the picture amusing. My god, if the President was photographed picking his nose, those very same people would vehemently argue that he was scratching the back of his eyeball.

It's even led to DU'ers with excellent reputations here on this board being labeled pedophiles because they see nothing wrong with glancing at a 16 year old tush.

I personally think 16 is plenty old for informed consent. However I also think the states where the age is actually 16 are the most likely to be states where consent is less likely to be informed.

Could it be the East Coast is mostly 16 because people were settling there a lot earlier than in the west, with the notable (but not too surprising) exception of Nevada?

minimum age of 21 in the legal brothels, and the minimum age in the other 2 counties is 18. And you might want to check out Utah's consent laws, weird stuff there.
