1. The south of this nation REALLY sucks.....

Fucking wasteland.

I know there are lots of Democrats and liberals in the south, but they are living behind enemy lines.

7. He won NC and Va
With those two he will be alright down here.

I didn't mention Florida, because it is in a world of its own. It's the deep south, but different.

9. Hey SD, you have to give us credit. NC delivered this time around.
We sent Barack to the WH; Kay Hagan to the Senate & Bev Perdue to governor's mansion. I guess what I'm trying to say is, we're not Alabama. ;-)

2. So white southerners basically hate Obama.
What can be done to transform white southerners? How to we wage a cultural transformation there? It had to be youth-focused and youth-led.

4. That fact is something to keep in mind.
Basically, the downturn in aggregate support for Obama is among Republicans and southerners, with the two groups basically overlapping. So we're talking about white southern Republicans solidifying against Obama. Is this surprising? Not at all. It's cultural and political anathema to them having him as president as commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces. They cannot comprehend how this came to be.

It IS important to try to neutralize this group so that it cannot form the core of a broader reactionary constituency. But if the rest of the country and other social groups can be basically united around a progressive agenda, we're more than ok.

5. It's time to pull out all Federal Military bases from the south
and grant the Confederacy the Treaty that they've always wanted.

6. I'm not buying that southern number.....
..... a Gallup poll posted two days ago had him at 57%.

And I can personally VOUCH for the fact that it's not THAT low. I'd say no lower than 40.

They may not like the fact that he's taking their guns away (ha!) but PERSONALLY they like him. White southerners have raised the act of liking individuals without liking their station to an ART form. Been doing it for hundreds of years.

8. Yay for the Northeast! My Mother in Law and Grandma still love him.
And I approve too.
As for the South....well, we won over NC and VA. Minorities are growing in # and the white Southerners who hate "libruls" won't be in power much longer.
