I welcome her debating President Obama, should he choose to run. That would be pretty funny imo.

13. No, I'm not kidding
She's a real threat to Obama.

As a matter of fact, she's the only republican that can possibly defeat him in 2012.

I fear for the future of the democratic party should she get the nomination.

15. So now intelligence isn't a prerequisite? Oh, wait...
the past 8 years pretty much answers that question. I just don't see her impressing anyone, especially when/if she starts opening her mouth and yapping her inanities.

I just don't see the challenge.

She's inspiring to literally millions of republicans.

I feel very threatened by her.

41. She could never defeat Obama
She appeals to nobody outside of a narrow base. She'd win her state and a few in the South, but she'd tank much worse than McCain. She might inspire a few million Republicans, but Obama received almost 70 million votes and beat McCain, who has much broader appeal than Palin, by 7 points and a huge electoral college win. Even if the economy tanks even more, the demographics hurt her. She'll get no Dem votes, few Indies, and still loses moderate Republican votes. The GOP establishment doesn't like her and believes she's bad for the party, so you'll see prominent Republicans either outright support Obama or just not give any effort to support her. And no way does she hold up under scrutiny on a campaign. She isn't bright enough or talented enough to pull it off, she was a drag on McCain almost immediately, the only bounce he got was from her initial appeal coupled with the convention bounce. If she gets the nomination, which she wouldn't, she'd be an easy win. She doesn't get any of the major demographics in her favor. Outside of the Bible Belt and Alaska and maybe a few GOP strongholds like Utah and Idaho, she wouldn't even be competitive. She'd be extremely fortunate to get 20 states. And that's at Obama's worst.

42. Hi, XemaSab. I think Obama is a 2-termer, so long as he wants the
job for 8 years.

Whether he can win in Indiana again is less certain, but barring some unforeseen misstep, I think his base is solid and it seems as if around 6 out of 10 voters feel he's doing a good job, despite difficult circumstances inherited from the Bush administration.

People generally seem to feel that Bush was pretty bad and that Obama is trying to set things to rights.

Palin's path to her party's nomination is going to be almost insurmountable, IMO. She has just stepped down in the middle of her first term as a governor, suggesting that she doesn't have the commitment to be a public servant, or that when the going gets tough the lame flee.

Romney can spend his considerable personal fortune on the nomination fight. Huckabee can spend his considerable personal charm. Palin is in a muddle. "I can't lead Alaska but I want to lead the free world."

For her chances at the nomination to improve, it seems as if Romney and Huck would have to assess their own chances against Obama and determine that they can't defeat him if 6 of 10 voters approve of his job performance. Against those kinds of numbers, Romney and Huck would step aside, clearing the field for a Palin or a Pawlenty, but even then, I'm not sure she could outwit the second-tier Pukes.

I could be underestimating her political acumen. If I am, I'll order the crow casserole with steamed humility. But as things look right now, Palin has the look and feel and profile of a walking train wreck.

Although the thought's pretty terrifying.

No, the danger from Palin is that she'll bring out her troglodyte base's inner Timothy McVeigh. They're quite capable of hatching any number of murderous, terroristic schemes when their faces are rubbed in the fact that they and their wacky champion are rejected by all reasonable persons interested in good government. She's a lightning rod for crazy, and given how she's elevated narcissistic incompetence to such a peak of adoration, her followers have a very long way to fall.

19. To a point
Electorally? No. But given the massive paranoid rage feedback loop that she kicked off in the right during the election campaign, I still sort of think of her as a physical threat to Democrats in some places depending on how she opens her mouth on any particular day. People like her encourage people who are likely to choose the ammo box over the ballot or soap box to express their views.

Republican women are like that; their utter lack of compassion
or caring or real human warmth makes them too scary to do any real
damage on the political stage, except perhaps on the sidelines...

32. Fake "democrats" are the only real threat to the Democratic party at the moment.
The message from the people TO the Democrats in 2006 & 2008 was clear: Do the fucking job.

The message from the DLC and the Blueballed cowards TO the people: No, we're going to keep on with the corporatism and warmongering, but thanks for giving us your vote and all your money.

Now that in and of itself wouldn't elect Sarah Palin. But Democrats staying home and not enough turnout to override the Diebold fraud just might.
