President Obama's inspiring paradoxes

This fatherless son is the very epitome of committed and loving husband and father.

This man who has been subjected to some of the most vicious and hateful slurs imaginable never utters a nasty word toward anyone.

This president whose efforts at compromise are consistently rejected continues to reach out in search of common solutions.

This brown-skinned child of the Continent, in embracing his own African-ness, reminds us that we are all valued members of one human family, regardless our race or heritage.

In so doing, our president makes me enormously proud - and inspires me to do a little bit better every day.
