63. NPR did an interesting story about these fabrics
during an interview with someone who has an online custom fabrics company.

It's quite common, during political events like elections, for people to make these fabrics with photos of the politicians they support, so they can wear it during campaigns. It's apparently hand-made screen prints, which takes quite a lot of work. I suspect one of these fabrics with Obama's photo, made for the occasion of his visit to Ghana, could be worth a lot of money among political paraphernalia collectors.

38. Here's some info
The brick courtyard of the castle, which Ghanaians commonly refer to as Cape Coast Dungeon, has two 18-foot water wells and four graves.

In the first grave is the Rev. Phillip Quarcoo, the first black Anglican pastor, who died at the age of 75. Beside him lies C.B. Whitehead, a 38-year old British soldier who was killed by a Dutch soldier in the courtyard.

Letitia Elizabeth London died at 36. She was the wife of George McLean, the British administrator of the castle. He died at 46 and was buried next to his wife.

I'll have to reclick on this thread when I'm off doing something else and wait for them to load!

I don't want to miss any of them.

Can you imagine that some media outlets are actually trying to push a story that only "small crowds" greeted the President and the First family?

In this case, I think these pics speak a THOUSAND words -- as that simply doesn't seem to be the case!

Any way, I promise, no more 45 pic-threads....I'll keep it to 44 next time.

It sounds exhausting. I can imagine all of that activity being really tiring for anyone, let alone an eight-year-old. And, as you point out, she's probably tired of having to share her daddy with the world, as well as being physically tired.

She is an 8 year old child. To have full command of her facial expressions at that age would be un-natural & scarey!

62. I love the Obamas ... BUT
I am going to say this and I am sure that many people will bash me for doing so but here it is anyway.

I have supported Barrack Obama since 2004.
I have never seen anything except love for all people on HIS face.
I have been following Michelle Obama the past two years and she 'always' have a huge smile on her face when hugging African-American children... but I have not seen that same smile 'everytime' when she hugs other children of other cultures.
DO NOT GET ME WRONG --- I love Michelle but I have notice this - and it does bother me.
I don't know if it is just that the camera catches her at the wrong moment or what .. but it is something that I have been keeping my eye on the past couple of months.

Go ahead and throw tomatoes at me - I don't care - but I think it is something that we should take a look at.

71. Oh...
I have seen thousands of photos of Michelle and ALL of the ones posted by Jackeens.
That is how I came to the conclusion that I came to.
Just take a look at the past and in the future and you will see it too.

Thanks for pointing out there was no truth in your post at all.

81. JTFrog...
I have never posted anything that I did not believe was the truth 'in my opinion'.
I do not understand what your comment means.
When I said 'go ahead and throw tomatoes at me' it meant that I knew I would get some backlash about what I was saying, because I knew that other people would have a different opinion that I have.
I was not pointing out that what I said was not true in my eyes.
I see no reason for anyone to post a comment that they do not believe is the truth.

U.S. first lady Michelle Obama at a Hispanic Heritage event at the Latin American Montessori Bilingual (LAMB) Public Charter School in celebration of Cinco de Mayo May 4, 2009 in Washington, DC.

First lady of the United States Michelle Obama hugs 11-year-old school children Maria Palacios (R) and Emily Martinez (L) from New York City Public School

There are gazillions of them, this is just a flavour!

And she even hugs some old white guys too:

77. Jackeens...
I am not saying that there aren't any at all .. and I do love President Obama and Michelle ... but there have been many events where Michelle wasn't smiling. I do hope that in the future that joy will be on her face more often ;)

Btw, Thank you for always posting all the great photos of all the members of Our First Family ;)

78. Ok!

I can't say I've noticed it Tx4obama, she just strikes me as being at ease with all children because she's evidently kid-crazy. Sometimes she seems ill at ease and nervous (and, therefore, unsmiling) at more formal events, but I just haven't seen her that way with kids - of any colour. I think the photos I posted of her are representative of how she is at these non-stuffy events.

Thanks for the thanks, thrilled you enjoy the photos.

90. Here, here! Call me emotional, but it is important to see our graceful First Lady
reaching out to all people and giving them the ultimate act of acceptance and reassurance: a big ole' hug. Probably feels good to a person nervous as hell to meet the First lady too. Our nation needs this.

I'm surprised you have time to "take a look at" Michelle's facial expressions, considering you're so busy monitoring cell phone use by homeless people. Democratic wives are not Stepford wives with phony smiles frozen on their faces.

Oh, and it's "Barack," not "Barrack."

68. I just went back and noticed #9 where he was comparing ears with the kid
I clicked the link with the bush photos.

What a repulsive buffoon bush is.

He always reminded me of those guys in chains who wave to gawkers as they're passed from a secure location to the courthouse. Grinning perpetrators who don't realize that people see them as abhorrent mutant degenerates. Deceived by Voices.

93. I dunno. It seems Sasha (the youngest) has not been happy since the campaign.
I think she is homesick for Chicago and the older way of life. She often looks suspicious/annoyed in these photos.

That would totally freak ME out, and I'm way older than that little girl.
