Wow - I Wish I Was 10 Years Old And The Obamas Were My Parents! |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-11-09 04:10 PM by BlooInBloo
No disrespect to my actual parents, whom I love deeply and am eternally grateful for, but...
COME ON! Russia? Buchenwald? Ghana? Rome?
The girls haven't even had their freakin first kiss yet, and they've seen 5x the amount of the world as I have.
Green with jealously? You're damn right.
Good for them though. It's what every parent wishes they could do for their kids. Nice that some can swing it. :)

to real life?
I envy them, too, and am very happy they're getting these opportunities.

7. I thought it would be awesome |
|
to have someone like Obama for my father before they took the girls on their Russian, Italian, African whirlwind tour~
Some of us didn't have that loving environment on their paternal side.
All the people I talk to about their latest trip think it's wonderful they took the girls.

8. Another Right Wing Contradiction.... |
|
Of course they took the children. It is summer and school is out.
While slumming other forums, one finds a considerable amount of grumbling about the children being on the trip.
It's quite odd, considering that during the election, the Obama girls were attending school, while another candidate was on her national truancy tour.
But these people love to talk about strong families, while going after the Obamas for their obvious commitment to one.

17. Yes. School can't compare to what they'll learn on the trip. Besides, there is |
|
the big plane that's already going, no extra expenses to speak of, and the Grandmother is along to look after them when the parents are busy with our business. I love it. Educational opportunities realized, and family values demonstrated. A-1

11. Yeah, figures. But I read somewhere yesterday that the Obamas have to pay out of pocket |
|
for the girls' hotel rooms, meals, incidentals, etc., as do all Presidents do for their kids.
I actually hadn't realized this until I read the article and it never bothered me that the Bush girls -- or any other kids in the First families -- went along on trips.
Kids should be with their parents as much as possible, according the "family values party", right?

12. Adult perspective. Did you see how tired Sasha looked? |
|
Poor little thing. I have a granddaughter exactly her age and I know she would be exhausted at this point in those travels. Little kids can't keep it together when they are so tired they can barely stand.
Not dissing Michelle and Barack at all. It just "is." I am sure they are aware that the kids can't take too much hoopla. They need their rest.
P.S. I also have a granddaughter Malia's age, so I know what she must be going through too. It's harder on the little one, tho...

19. I'm sure there is a bit of jet lag involved here...... |
|
But I know that my daughters greatly remember fondly all of the trips that me and their dad took them on when they were young. By the time the oldest one was only 12 years old, they had already been to 2 Islands of Hawaii, Various Caribbeans Islands, Mexico, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Morocco!
