HHS Secretary Sebelius says all options remain on table for health care overhaul
Associated Press
July 12, 2009

WASHINGTON - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says the administration wants a health care overhaul this year but is still leaving the details to Congress.

Sebelius said on Sunday that a health care overhaul "needs to be owned by the House and the Senate" and won't be dictated by President Barack Obama. She says lawmakers from both parties have good ideas.

Obama has refused to outline specific proposals for his broad health care overhaul. Instead, he has left to lawmakers the give-and-take of proposals that comes before a bill is completed.

1. "lawmakers from both parties have good ideas"
This really isn't true. Maybe 10% of the lawmakers good ideas, and they aren't from the other party.

2. It's funny how "someone has to pay for the overhaul," but "no one" has to pay for the wars
Obama insists on waging. His priorities certainly are clear here.

4. I take it you support spending hundreds of billions of dollars for the Iraq/Afghanistan wars

We can afford that?

Was that your position during the Bush government or have you changed from being an opponent of those wars to a supporter of those wars?

10. Hey, if you want to help them blame Obama for their war and fiscal crisis, go ahead.
Some of us, however, aren't so desperate to attack a fellow Dem we'd believe the wingers propaganda.

14. Please explain then -- how is it that Obama isn't concerned about HIS wars -- they ARE his wars now
-- "paying for themselves" -- but he is just SO concerned about HEALTH COVERAGE paying for itself?

You don't have a problem with that, regardless of who's president?

Because I sure as fuck do. If Obama is willing to pour our tax dollars down the endless black hole that is Afghanistan without worrying how much it costs, at the expense of investing in American's health coverage, than he is no different from Bush.

Obama is ensuring that whatever Congress does, and it's a given that they will NOT provide a robust public option, because the medical insurance industry won't let them, HE will be able to say that Congress was just carrying out the will of the people, and that he must go along with that.

Haven't you noticed? Obama never bucks the system. He talks a good game for awhile. Then he starts backpedaling. His balls are made of styrofoam.

15. Get back to me when we have a public option and Obama has withdrawn from Afghanistan.
I don't believe either will happen during Obama's administration.
