whomever she may be, throw out the first pitch at an All Star Game.

I will enjoy that immensely. (As long as she ain't a Republican.)

3. Where are the rising stars for the Democrats?
Unless you count Hillary. I only see Lisa Madigan. And shes not going to run for Governor or Senate right now. I don't think Napalitano will ever run.

13. Klobuchar? Gillibrand?
Or could be someone we haven't heard of yet who will run for a Governorship in the next few years.

Presidents often tend to come out of nowhere and rise to the top quickly.

32. You rarely see the rising stars 7 years out
It is hard to see beyond the currently powerful and the past powerful. Most people first saw Bill Clinton in 1988 - and that was when he gave one of the WORST keynote speeches of all time. You know it was bad when the biggest applause line started with, "in conclusion" - yet slightly more than 4 years later he was President.

Klobichar seems a possibility, but I know very little about her. Gillibrand is clearly positioning herself for the future and knows how to be labeled the person leading on some issues.

11. Yes, but that doesn't mean women
are not strong enough to throw an overhand pitch. It's not that hard to do. My mom and sis can do it. What a thing to say.

Misogynistic ignorance.

28. I used to play a ton of street hockey (on top of the ice hockey I played)...
..and every weekend a bunch of us got together for a few hours. We had plenty of women play with us, and one day we split the teams up by gender for a laugh. The women kicked our asses 3 out of 4 games, and us guys weren't holding back in the slightest. If women can play hockey then they can throw out any damned first pitch...and probably go on to start the game. :)

And hats off to a fellow shortstop! :toast:

31. Yeah, and the rest of their throws are overhand
I've noticed more than a few men can't get the ball over the plate either.

By the way, they just throw it, they don't make a full pitch.

Three fails in one post. Wow.

19. Get a glove and stand 90 feet from me and see if you can handle it.
I went to college on a softball scholarship. I played shortstop.

Some asshole said the same thing to me one day at a bar that had a pitch booth that showed your pitching speed. When he caught the ball he threw the glove off and hit his knees.

I would love an opportunity to show you just how strong a woman can be.

30. Ridiculous and sexist statement. I take it you're a dude, right? I'm sure America's
colleges and universities -- not to mention high schools -- are filled with WOMEN who could pitch a ball a hell of a lot better and stronger than you!

I hope I never see another fundie president. And I hope that someday having a republican president won't mean we're doomed to more war, more bigotry, less caring for the poor and sick.

Only problem is, she comes across as a Hillary clone. And she may not have the chops for national-level politics. But I like her. :-)

26. As long as it's a cool women.
I don't want a woman just for the sake of having a woman though.

I think Hillary was just the start of what will be many female candidates (in both parties) running for President over the coming years. I think America is ready to elect one, and after 8 years of Obama we'll probably be even more ready. We'll see if any emerge as serious contenders over the coming years. I still don't rule out another run by Hillary.
