But this unrec "controversy" is like the roll-over accident on the freeway you just can't help but peek at as you drive by!

21. Okay, So Obama Goes To The Game... More Public Appearances...
Sorry to say, but I'm getting tired of seeing the "popularity game" being played out all over the place. Yes, he's charming and winsome and pleasing and all the rest, but just because he turns up at some event doesn't seem to me like it's what we elected him to do.

Good press, lots of exposure does keep him popular... but a popularity contest isn't going to get this country back on it's feet. I don't know, but what's the plan here? He's the President, not a movie star.

I'm trying NOT to be so negative, I want success, but is THIS how it's going to be achieved??? Going Ga-Ga over the fact that he's at a ball game falls a bit short for me.

23. I wanted him elected to use
his best judgment..he's been working hard and the All Star Game asked him to do it and he did it. There are a lot of us who were having fun with it.

Course, not everybody is the same.

24. He is no more exposed then any other modern President.
Edited on Tue Jul-14-09 10:18 PM by Jennicut
Perhaps its just the culture of today where anyone famous is on tv a lot due to 24/7 news networks AND then we discuss it later on in message boards. Better to see more of Obama then Palin, Michael Jackson (who I loved but come on now), etc.

27. I'm coming from a place
where we had 8 years of the corporatemedia pushing bush and the War on Iraq down our gullets in Orwelland..and now we have a reality based president who I really can't get enough of.

Not having been sure that this would ever really happen. I'm stoked!

29. Check this out, Jennicut!
"The 44th president threw out the ceremonial first pitch, something no one in office had done since Gerald Ford at the 1976 All-Star Game in Philadelphia, won by the NL at a time when it was dominating. It was important that he was part of this, because his call to public service by all Americans was the catalyst for the "Go Beyond" theme that pervaded this entire All-Star Week as well as the moving tribute to 30 winners of the All-Stars Among Us campaign."
