Clinton: Damage Done To Perception Of America 'Temporary'

This afternoon at the Council on Foreign Relations, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave what was billed as a major speech outlining the administration's foreign policy approach. During the speech, she confronted the damage George W. Bush did to America's standing in the world.

Perceptions of the U.S. as imperialistic "have fed anti-Americanism, but they are not who we are. The damage is temporary. It's kinda like my elbow: Getting better every day," Clinton said.

She also emphasized the Obama administration's break from Bush policy when it comes to working with allies.

"We will not tell our partners to take it or leave it, nor will we tell them they're with us or against us," she said. "That's global malpractice."
