Change you CAN believe in!
Syracuse, NY--Crucible Specialty Metals is facing proposed fines of $249,000 after inspectors following up on the death of a worker in January found 71 alleged serious and repeat violations of federal safety and health standards.

"What concerns me is we had 71 alleged serious and repeat violations, and of those 71 there were many instances of each type of violation," Adams said." So it wasn't one machine that was unguarded, it was many machines that were unguarded. It wasn't one electrical problem, it was many electrical problems."

Somehow this part didn't make it from print to the on-line copy, but the print story notes that the last inspection in the summer of 2008 found 1 violation.

This is a personal victory for me - I tried to tell management about their safety issues and they fired my ass!

2. I'm sorry you were fired
but I bet now they wished they had listened to you. You gonna testify at the civil suit the family of the deceased worker is going to file against the company?

3. I was already gone six years when that happened. The place is
in bankruptcy, so the family may be SOL no matter what.

6. It just never seemed like a good idea - who else would ever hire me?

7. Well, I suppose a savvy lawyer--if you had an airtight case--could offer to settle with a few
caveats, like, say, you never talk about them, they never trash talk you, and they give you a glowing letter of reference!

If they break their word, they have to pay you a large additional sum!
