Senator Coburn to Sotomayor: Imagine that I am 38 weeks pregnant
Well, no, Senator. You, and your fellow men, will never be even one week pregnant. And this highlights the issue: unless you have a womb, you have no business telling woman what they can do with their bodies.

26. Some women, I suppose, like the "father knows best"
image in their physicians.

2. If he were pregnant, that means the artificial womb has been perfected!
And he can personally start carrying all those babies to term, himself! Eight at a time, why not? We'll call him the OctoSenator-babydaddymama!

Tool.

I hope she refused to answer that clumsy hypothetical.

5. It was yesterday and she said she was not going to speculate
on specific cases. Smart response which left the RWwers unsatisfied, of course.

6. Actually, imagining him 38 weeks pregnant is a fond fantasy of mine
Imagining any of these anti-woman assholes pregnant, in fact.

THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE AND THEY CANNOT HAVE A CLUE.

Senator Coburn, you slimy piece of shit, you cannot even begin to imagine what it is like for a woman to face the complications of a pregnancy gone wrong. You just can't even begin to imagine because you have never been in that situation. You think it's just a simple matter of some airy-fairy GOD's will, but what it really is is YOUR will. You are imposing what YOU think YOUR god wants, and you are completely incapable of putting yourself in the place of the woman who has learned she's pregnant at age 45 with a severely compromised baby, or the pre-teen-ager impregnated by her mother's boyfriend or the woman who just wasn't thinking straight and got pregnant and has no insurance and knows she's not in a position to carry it to term.

You can't ever be there, you worthless fuck, and you need to shut up. Get your laws, your mind, your hands off our bodies. LEAVE US THE FUCK ALONE.

And yes, Tansy Gold is angry today and she has no patience with assholes like this.

21. As you, and all of us, should be
They will never feel the physical, physiological and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy. Their lives will never be in jeopardy during pregnancy and delivery. Yes, some women do die during child birth. They will never be forced to carry a pregnancy that resulted from rape, nor will they be - in some country - be stoned to death because a man decided that this pregnancy brought shame to the tribe.

17. 9 months is closer to 40 weeks...
If every month had exactly 28 days, then 9 months would be 36 weeks.

lost her job, along with her husband and has no insurance. How is she going to take care of a special needs child without national health care Senator?

Well, OK and he's knocked up one of his sidekicks.

Does anyone have the slightest doubt that the guy would:

A. Pay big money to keep it quiet;

B. Pay extra money to fly her to Canada or some other country, where she might "take care of the problem" quietly- were he and his ilk successful in their obsession to overturn reproductive rights;

C. Fess up on national TV in a tearful manner.

D. All of the above- without resigning.

20. I Do. I can't stand Coburn's politics - but I honestly believe he is a 'true believer' and
not a demagogue. Listening to him and Sessions, I see two different passions. One is real (Coburn) and the other is purely political (Sessions). I can see why Obama can count a guy like Coburn a friend. I can't see him spending 1 minute with Sessions socially.

That's just an honest observation and doesn't take away my EXTREME dislike of Senator Coburn's positions.

The contrast with Sessions- that's a good point, though not necessarily political. Sessions is, how to put it- a somewhat different face of the Taliban. Cruder, but not necessarily less vile.

Could be that we need a refresher course in how they think.

At least I probably do.
