CNN to give nutjob Birther "lawyer" Orly Taitz a platform tonight.
Who's giving this racist woman, along with her batshit crazy sidekick, Alan Keyes, a microphone to squawk into?

Well, of course, none other than Lou Dobbs, himself.

But there is a MAJOR SILVER LINING to this:

John Avlon from the Daily Beast is going to be there to provide the smackdown.

I saw him on Campbell Brown's show last night and he did not parse his words in going after the utter and total lunacy of the Birther crowd. And from what I've seen from him so far on other CNN appearances, he's not going to back down from the ramblings of deranged dentist who got her law degree online.

Errol Lewis, a columnist for the Daily News and a local NY radio host, will also be on hand to refute their seditious lies. Don't know much about him but he is a native New Yorker and a two-time Ivy League grad and has a law degree from a respected and ACCREDITED law school.

So, Ms. Taitz, shall we wrap up your ass for you, or do you just wanted it handed to you as is?

It's about time these bigoted, hateful, liars were exposed to the light (something Avlon said himself last night!). What remains to be seen is how well Dobbs moderates but I think we've got two fine, intelligent, articulate guys to finally deliver a public and final blow to these nuts.

It starts at 7 p.m. on CNN. Never watch Dobbs and not thrilled with giving him ratings (as this is an obvious stunt to get some), but Avlon and Lewis will provide some good watching!

Isn't Tweety on at 7 p.m.

And like I wrote in my OP, it looks like there are going to be two very intelligent guys on to refute Taitz.

The woman is completely deluded, at best, and I think it might be fun to watch her get exposed for what she is on national TV.

7. Lou Dobbs Radio: Hey, Why Won’t Obama Produce His Birth Certificate?

By David Weigel 7/17/09 10:58 AM

CNN host Lou Dobbs interviewed birther attorney Orly Taitz and perennial presidential candidate Alan Keyes on the July 15 episode of his radio show, asking his two discredited guests some shockingly credulous questions about the citizenship of President Obama. Dobbs explained to Taitz and Keyes that his researchers had looked for proof of the president’s citizenship and been stumped.

We’ve been working kind of hard to figure out what’s going on amongst the places. Going to the Federal Election Commission, that does nothing to certify or validate a candidate’s legitimacy either as a citizen, as a person in good standing, of a certain age, qualification for the Congress or the Senate, or president of the United States. I think a lot of people would be surprised at that. They leave it up to the states. The states — it turns out, at least the state of Illinois, doesn’t require proof of citizenship, proof of age, proof of residency. I mean, it’s extraordinary the degree to which our political system relies on the so-called honor system.

Of course, Dobbs could clear this up with a phone call to Janice Okubo of the Hawaii Department of Health, who told me yesterday that the short-form birth certificate released to the press one year ago verifies what the state has in its records; that the president was born in Honolulu in 1961.

Dobbs wasn’t entirely won over by Keyes and Taitz, but he repeatedly asked leading questions about what’s missing from the the short-form certificate of live birth. “It doesn’t have a doctor’s name on it,” said Dobbs. “It has nothing on it.” Later, he referred again to the long-form version of Obama’s birth certificate “which is purportedly on file somewhere in Hawaii, but not made available to the press or anyone else. You produce the signature, the doctor, the birth date, so forth, the witnesses, which normally accompany any birth certificate, and produce it from the hospital record, and we’re done.”

38. That's all it is supposed to have

Many people think that a form filled out at a hospital, and sometimes given as a souvenir, is a birth certificate.

It's not. A birth certificate, certification of birth, and the various phrases used by different states, is a document issued by the state - typically these days by printing it out from the state database and then stamping or sealing it as certified.

95. Yep - I wasn't even born in a hospital but my state issued bc from PA is still valid.
It was good enough to get me a SS # and a U.S. Passport. No one asked me for the original form to "prove" that I really was born in Pennsylvania - that is what the state issued form with official seal is for - these people are nuts.

but she's not deranged, as he is. I picture Dobbs raising only the mildest objections to the likes of Taitz and Keyes, while really rooting for them. Dobbs is another one who's been running around on all fours, foaming at the mouth, since Obama took office.

Please provide evidence of Obama paying out a million dollars in legal fees to supress his BC. Just because you say so, doesn't make it so.

Ona side note: HOW THE FUCk did Orly Taitz pass tha CA Bar. My son just took it a couple of months ago along with a couple of his collegues from the DAs office he works in another state. He passed. They didn't. This is not an easy test and I would really like to see proof that she really passed it.

bwahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha

bwahahahahahahaahahahahhahaahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The announced her as "Orly Tights"..."TIGHTS"...

They say factcheck concludes after examining the BC it is valid after seeing it, touching it, examining it, then they quote HI officials (Lingle) saying Obama was indeed born in Hawaii, then they note TWO separate birth announcements, then a letter from HI officials (Fukino), then politifact.com reissued/updated results--he is US Citizen--then WH press briefing THIS WEEK, and they show the comment from Gibbs smacking down WND reporter!!! OMFG

Then, she asks Keyes "What more do you need to be convinced" Keyes says "Some evidence" and then you immediately hear someone laughing. =)) =)) Keyes rambles for a bit...same shit as always...

Then, Orly rambles on about Obama only gave a COLB never gave BC, no name of Dr or hospital, then she says 338 allows foreign born to get birth certs, then they cut her off.

THEN, Errol Louis says a lot of these places are raising $$, like WND which he considers a scam cause selling bumper stickers and that that they are raising $$ for legal fees. Orly starts squeaking but is lower in volume, tries to interrupt, is cut off" Then John says "this is Obama derangement syndrome, it is pathological hatred of the Pres"...says "Keyes calls Obama a communist, Orly calls Obama a gestappo thug on her blog" then says "Which is it is he a nazi or a communist?? You people are nuts" you can hear Orly yelling (but she is mostly muted volume-wise) and yelling and yelling while others are talking (but can barely hear her--she is just squeaky like a chimpmunk and does not take a breath), then they tell her "you need to let others speak", then they immediately say "we are out of time" and more laughing can be heard including the anchor...

Then Orly jumps in with the two citizen parents thing and is abruptly cut off...

EPIC FUCKING FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

56. Another Orly moment
This clip is from an appearance Orly made in June on the Ben Barrack radio show with reporter Andrew Walden. Walden is a conservative from Hawaii who thinks the Birthers are nuts and making all conservatives look bad. (He is right on that point.) Orly completely loses it when Walden starts reading from a 30 page bar complaint filed against her in California.

Andrew Walden doesn't like Obama at all, but he destroys Dr. Orly Taitz, Esq. Also, at least as I remember it from the full interview, he discussed how his own investigation in Hawaii proved Obama's Hawaiian birth without a doubt.

77. Better than I'd feared, worse than I think some of us want it to have been.
Taitz and Keyes came off looking a bit foolish, of course, but were allowed to talk over (well, under) their opponents. Presenting two teams of two subtly equated the birthers with the reality-based world, unfortunately, but at least CNN had the professionalism to acknowledge at the start the "overwhelming body of evidence" establishing President Obama's birthplace. They undercut the whole thing by letting Taitz get the last word (possibly because she simply refused to stop talking) with a factually-incorrect assertion that was allowed to stand unchallenged.

CNN could have done a little journalism, but instead hosted an argument that ultimately keeps the crazies' hope alive. The segment wasn't long enough for anything more than bald assertions by both sides.

70. QUESTION - Who originally verified Obama's citizenship?
I am assuming that somewhere along the line, when Obama was preparing the paperwork required of those vying for the nomination of the Democratic Party for the office of president, he needed to check a box on a form asking if he was a US citizen. I am further assuming that there was some additional paperwork required to verify a response in the affirmative such as a passport or a certified copy of a birth certificate.

What I am trying to find out is exactly how Obama first proved his status as a US citizen and to whom or to which organization he did so verify.

Can anyone help with very specific info?

Thanks,
Major

72. Homeland security/FBI would be the first.
They are the ones who have our fingerprints and records. They are the ones that would have done a thorough background check. I even said, for him to even put himself down as a candidate they would have done some sort of a background check---especially the DNC before the nomination. It would be too much of a smear on the DNC if they didn't.

to the Bar has to go through an extensive background check. Also government jobs require clearance. When my son took a job as an ADA the background check was very intense.

If there was anything suspect it would have surfaced long ago.

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he had to undergo an extensive background check.

As also pointed out in this thread, the process of being admitted to the bar is something of a proctological exam.

"As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he had to undergo an extensive background check."

Is one of the requirements of being a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee being a natural-born citizen?

I really don't think so.

I am trying to pinpoint the exact instance of Barack Obama providing the proof of natural-born citizenship for his run for the presidency.

Because when it comes to electing a president, the Constitution provides:

"Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector."

You'll notice two interesting things from that passage of the Constitution.

1. States determine the manner in which they choose their electors.

2. Nobody in the federal government, and no federal officer, can serve as an elector.

There is a reason for that. The reason is that the Founders wanted to make sure that the presidential election was free from being subverted by the federal government. Accordingly, the federal government doesn't decide who gets onto state ballots. Indeed, in any state, anyone can write in any candidate they wish.

You'll also notice that when it comes to Congressional and Senatorial elections, the qualifications of members and the validity of elections are determined by those two houses. So if the framers had wanted that sort of check on presidential candidates, they were certainly familiar with assigning power to do it. However, under the Constitution, any power not assigned to the federal government is assigned, by default, to the states, or the people. That's what the 10th amendment says.

In the case of a presidential election, the House and Senate jointly determine the result. However, the result can be challenged at that stage, and the 20th Amendment expressly deals with the problem of a president-elect being unqualified:

"If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified."

So this notion of there being one act of qualifying either to be on a ballot - which is determined by the states - or to take office - which is determined by the joint session in which the electoral vote is counted; is going to leave you frustrated. You are asking for something that is not reducible to one particular moment.

However, what we do instead, just as we do with criminal trials in which the power of life and death is held in the hands of 12 ordinary citizens, is that we appoint a huge jury, in essence, and we call it an election. This process exposes the candidates to withering examinations of their backgrounds, beliefs, and what have you, in a very high stakes adversarial environment.

There are those who do not trust this process to work. There is not much that will satisfy people like that.

86. Ummm Should they deport Lou Dobbs as well?
I am a dedicated Obama fan, but Lou Dobbs does make some valid
points. See below:

Dobbs' radio show

During his radio program, Dobbs stated: "[S]hould he
produce his birth certificate -- the long form, the real deal?
Should he be a little more forthcoming? ... What is the deal
here? I'm starting to think we have a -- we have a document
issue. Do you suppose he's un -- no, I won't even use the word
undocumented. It wouldn't be right."

Dobbs later stated that when examining the birth certificate
issue, at first he "thought, 'Here we go with the lunatic
fringe. This is a bunch of quackeroos going after him.' "
However, Dobbs said he now believes that there are "some
issues here that should be really resolved" with Obama's
birth certificate.

During his program, Dobbs repeatedly faulted Obama for what he
said was Obama's failure to definitively answer questions
raised about his birth certificate:

    * Dobbs stated: "The first thing is to determine
whether or not his birth certificate is valid. And what I
don't understand is why that has not been released and given
over to the public record."

    * After a caller said "something doesn't smell
right" with Obama, Dobbs said that the "way to get
rid of those odors is always just open the windows and let the
sun shine in. And all we need here is a doggone document, but
for some reason the president doesn't want to release
that."

    * Dobbs said that in contrast to efforts undertaken by
Sen. John McCain "to determine that he met the standard
of natural-born citizen," there is "absolutely, you
know, no effort to do so on the part of Barack H. Obama. Nor,
as also our callers have pointed out, this president would not
release his medical records. And the national media seemed to
be fine with that, whereas they probably would have
eviscerated John McCain for failing to do so."

    * After a caller theorized that Obama is rushing through
programs because Obama "knows what's coming" with
regard to the birth certificate lawsuits, Dobbs said:
"Certainly your view can't be discounted at this point,
because this president refused to provide the documentation
that would settle all of the controversy here."

    * After a caller said she initially thought the birth
certificate controversy was "the dumbest thing
ever," Dobbs replied:

DOBBS: Well, it is a dumb thing. I think we have to all
admit this is a dumb thing either way, because, I mean, I
can't understand why the president wouldn't just move to get
this stuff out of the way. Show the documents, get it done --
I mean, he -- think about it.

Dobbs also claimed that a soldier questioning Obama's
citizenship "should be taken seriously. There are real
questions here that need to be answered" and
"reasonable people should be interested" in the
birth certificate issue:

DOBBS: I mean, because I got to be honest with everybody.
When I started looking at this and the lawsuit -- Orly Taitz
his attorney, for Major Cook, when he -- you know, I thought
this is kind of peculiar. But I thought we should find out
what's going on because, you know, it's a lawsuit -- a major
who is -- he is, by the way, a combat veteran. Some people in
the media have called him a coward; they are fools for doing
so. But they're fools, anyway; it isn't this one instance that
makes them fools.

This is a man who should be taken seriously. There are
real questions here that need to be answered. And people talk
about, quote-unquote, the lunatic fringe are the only ones
interested in this, and it turns out that reasonable people
should be interested, and reasonable -- excuse me --
reasonable minds have to understand what's going on. And this
can be dismissed with one -- the production of one simple
little document, and that's a birth certificate. It's
extraordinary.

92. You are totally missing my point....
I am as much an Obama fan as I am a JFK fan.

My point is that this so-called "birther issue"
seems to be gaining mainstream media attention recently. This
thread mentions CNN; I mentioned the Dobbs show. Do you really
think it is just going to dry up and blow away? Maybe... but
who knows? Even Paglia wrote that she wished the president
would just produce the long form vault copy of his birth
certificate (not the useless Certificate of Live Birth) and
make the doubters disappear. I do too.

I want health care reform to proceed smoothly untramelled by
distracting side issues like this one which could unexpectedly
gather momentum and steamroller over everything else. Let's
end it NOW! Got it?

93. It's gaining mainstream attention because of the Stefan Cook story.
The freaks are under the impression that they won some sort of victory because Cook wasn't forced to deploy to Afghanistan.

To answer your question, no--this will never dry up and blow away, but nothing Obama does will pacify them, so he's better off ignoring their shrieks and concentrating on the other 95% of the country that's willing to give him a chance.

And they can "wish" for whatever they want--but Obama's produced all he's going to give them. The birth certificate is out there, on the Internet, for the world to see.

He isn't reasonable and he shouldn't be taken seriously. This is the Lou Dobbs who though Obama waffles were just hilarious! The man is a crazy racist and I think the only reason he hasn't been booted off CNN is because he was a founding member of CNN's financial news division back in the day.

79. Here are some interview questions for these loons:
Let's see your birth certificate.... what information is on your birth certificate? Is the name of the doctor listed? If not, how do we know it's legitimate? Are you a citizen? Prove it. How do we know you didn't fake it? Blah blah blah.

Turn the tables on them... if all/most birth certificates do not include doctor's name and whatever else they're saying BO's lacks, then all birth certificates are fake and none of us is a citizen.

And there goes the cash cow for these frauds.
