Where are the ads that put a POSITIVE outlook on healthcare reform?!
I am inundated with the whole "Do you want government bureaucrats between you and your doctor? bs" but I am seeing next to nothing in counterbalance. How about some ads?! Like:

***************
Imagine a world where losing your job doesn't mean losing your healthcare.
***************
Nancy just found out she's diabetic - thanks to President Obama's healthcare plan, she won't have to worry about her insurance rates skyrocketing.
***************
Ed owns a small business and his key employee Harry's wife was just diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to President's Obama healthcare reform, Ed and all his employees and their families can rest assured that their rates won't go through the ceiling and they can keep the plan they like at rates they can afford.
***************
Marcy has always wanted to open her own small business but had to remain at the fish gutting factory in order to keep her health insurance. President Obama's healthcare program will open that door for Marcy and other entrepreneurs who have denied their dreams too long for lack of affordable insurance. Welcome to the New American Age of Entrepreneurism!
******************
Delores reached her lifetime cap in her struggle with Ovarian cancer. Thanks to President Obama's healthcare reform, she can remain comfortable in the knowledge that she will continue to receive the care and treatment she needs.
*******************
Ted's parents lost their home 15 years ago when they were overwhelmed by medical debt. Ted thinks of them now and wishes they had been alive to see that no more American families will lose their homes due to illness thanks to President Obama's healthcare reforms
************************
Mindy just lost her job. The good news is that she didn't also lose her health insurance, thanks to President Obama's healthcare reform. Tell your Senators and Congresspeople to vote Yes!
***********

This is the sort of ad we need to see - the "what's in it for you" type of ad.

4. I've seen a few postive ads in the past few weeks..
But I don't remember who ran them.

They basically just pointed out what we all know, that private health insurance sucks and that a public option would fix most of the problems.

7. I think MoveOn and some other progressive organizations are trying to
put ads out but they don't have the deep pockets money that the insurance and other for profit health organizations have. They need contributions. btw That's your health care premiums and medication money going into those ads. Maybe letters to your insurer telling them you don't appreciate it when you still have to pay for your health care after the premium because of deductibles and copays.

8. Organizing For America (Obama's old campaign organization) is running ads.
They're doing an ad blitz targeting the states and districts of Blue Cross Dog Democrats and other DINOs that have been holding things up. It's a fairly major campaign, so you should be seeing a decent number of ads.

12. An article posted today on DU said Dems have lots of ads coming.
Perhaps they are at time or on cable channels that we miss them? Or, they might be holding back closer to the vote to barrage us with them. I've seen a few that weren't sponsored by the Dems though.

The propaganda about healthcare that I hear on a daily basis makes me sick to my stomach. I work around some conservatives who eat up Beck, Rush and Hannity's garbage about healthcare reform. The dems really need get people education who try to look at both sides.

15. Christian radio blitz running in NC + 5 other states
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 09:06 AM by nc4bo
I mean REAL Christians not GOP Xians:

http://www.piconetwork.org/news-media/coverage?id=0143

Harvard said that he hopes people will look beyond partisan politics and consider affordable health care a faith issue.

"We want our voices to be heard in this conversation," he said, explaining why pastors taking to the airwaves. "We want senators to know we care about affordable health care."

Harvard said that Jesus was concerned "for the least of these" and that is the primary social issue in faithful Scripture. He said that they are speaking out for the people who don't have a voice, and are committed to getting the support of people to make health care reform happen.

Not sure where they stand on birth control or pro-choice issues.

I've also seen a few really good pro-health care reform progressive ads running on tv (not sure of the sponsor) but I've been seeing some over-the-top, fear-inducing, pathetic GOP ads running too.

I don't know where you live, but I see great ads supporting health care reform on my TV nearly every day. They've been running or weeks.

Here's the new Harry and Louise ad that supports health care! I love it.

Exactly what I would have hoped for - focusing on Prior conditions, lack of small business healthcare, etc. Short, direct, to the point and personal. Good job!

Tag was - It's Time to Act NOW.

20. I am seeing a commericial sort of like those examples
I forget how it goes exactly, or who's paying for it, but it went something like this.

"We need health care reform now. Without health care reform Ed will be rejected when applying for health insurance because of preexisting conditions. Without health care reform stopping the spiraling costs of health insurance Steve will have to stop covering his employees health insurance because his profits aren't enough to pay for it anymore. Without health care reform Donna won't be able to get the health care treatment she needs for her cancer. Now more then ever we need congress to act on health care reform".

I may have switched the order of some of these things around, and probably got the names of the people wrong. The ad didn't mention any congressmen to call or anything. I saw the ad in PA.
