1. Anyone who is under 40 and uneducated will not know who he was
They'll just shrug and say "Oh, another old white guy died". The corporate media is all about pandering to the under 40 crowd.

4. I'm 38 and remember 'Uncle Walter'
Of course I'm not uneducated either. But he certainly set a standard that none of our current anchors are meeting.

5. Right....
Because the two week Reaganpalooza when that old bastard died was all about the "under 40 crowd" who couldn't even remember when the bastard was pResident.

3. In my eyes, the man was a saint. I'd like more coverage and
maybe, just maybe, a wannabee reporter out there will have a lightbulb moment. I doubt it, but we can hope.

6. The Degree To Which Michael Jackson's Media Coverage.......
....exceeds that of Walter Cronkite's, is a plain measure of just how fucked this country is.......

7. Apparently you are too young to know......
...what an honorable, hard-working JOURNALIST Walter Cronkite was. He was the last real journalist on television - and as the reports say - he WAS the most trusted American in this country. It broke my heart when he retired because I knew there would never be another journalist like him - all we have now are idiots who commentate on the "news."

10. It was sarcasm...
I know Cronkite and fully respect his legacy... perhaps he was even better than Edward R. Murrow...

13. That's because CBS screwed him over
after he retired he was supposed to get to do specials but they wanted him to fade away, so out of sight out of mind. It's what happens when you are kept out of the public eye, it's like you no longer exists and it was deliberate by CBS. :-(

15. In all honesty it has been less than Russert's
But I suspect that in both instances it is driven by the collegiality within the media community
