News of Roosevelt's Death Threw Hitler Into Hysteria
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 04:29 PM by Drunken Irishman
I found this in an archive of a local paper shortly after Roosevelt's death.

This is the part that's interesting (mind the errors, I typed it myself)...

"Suddenly Lorenz, one of the press chiefs, burst into the chamber without knocking and ran across the room." Herrgesell said. "He held a DNB bulletin in his hand and cried out: "Fuehrer. Great news. Roosevelt is dead."

"Hitler leaped to his feet, grabbed the bulletin from Lorenz's hand violently and suddenly flamed with a queer fire. His expression was maniacal. Then he began to laugh. It was hideous. He walked up and down the room waving his arms and laughing. The room echoed with crazy laughter.

"Suddenly he stopped laughing. Then a spasm of laughter gripped him again. And he threw himself around the room, laughing and repeating: 'I knew it. I knew it.'

"Nobody ever saw Hitler ever smile again," the secretary said.

Interesting look into history.

2. Yes. There was also another article where it said 'Japs mourn Roosevelt'.
Or something like that.

Have you heard the conspiracy theory that Hitler assassinated Roosevelt?

3. Well, if that were really Adolf's reaction to the news
Then that would lead me to believe that he thought he was responsible, whether or not it was actually true.

I'd be more inclined to believe it wasn't Hitler himself, but his fascist supporters in the US (i.e the Bush Crime Family and their associates who had already attempted a coup against FDR)

6. I don't think FDR was assassinated.
Though I will admit the possibility.

Hitler thought it was "providence" once again coming to rescue him, his astrologers were predicting something big, and Hitler interpreted this as his salvation much like the death of the Tsarina Elizabeth had brought an end to the war that had nearly defeated the German ruler he most identified with, Frederick the Great. In his deluded mind, he thought that the Americans and British would now turn against the Soviets and that Nazi Germany would survive. They would turn against each other, but only on the smoldering ruins of his Reich.

9. Hitler was completely batshit insane at that point.
Start with the Parkinsons which by that time, had screwed up his brain considerably, and add the stress of knowing the war was going badly and in a few more weeks, he'd be out of power, probably dead, possibly worse. Then throw in the "vitamin" injections from Hitler's quack doctor Morell - amphetamines in the morning to wake him up, and morphine and sedatives at night to make him sleep. Healthy...

Considering that Hitler was one sick puppy before the last days in the bunker, he was completely psycho in the end.

That Downfall clip that everyone spoofs is no exaggeration.
