From Cronkite tributes to this... Obama Explains His Mom Jeans: "I'm A Little Frumpy" (AP)
WASHINGTON President Barack Obama acknowledges "I'm a little frumpy," and says he's not worried about it.

Asked in an NBC "Today" show interview about the well-worn bluejeans he wore to the pitcher's mound to throw out the first pitch in last week's major league baseball All-Star game, Obama said, "I hate to shop."

He said that up until two years ago, he had only four suits and said "those jeans are comfortable." He said he would leave it up to first lady Michelle to set the fashion pace at the White House, saying: "Here's my attitude: Michelle, she looks fabulous. ... For people who want a president to look great in tight jeans, I'm sorry."

The interview was broadcast Tuesday.

1. Why, in this vapid nation, should ANYONE have to "explain" their clothing?
There was nothing wrong with his clothing at the ballpark. It looked like the sort of casual clothing someone would wear to a baseball game.

WTF is the matter with people? How emptyheaded can one get?

2. He could wear a potato sack as far as I'm concerned and he'd still look hot to me...
but the most important thing is that he's a pretty good president, so far ;)

3. WTF are "mom jeans"?
Is there someone somewhere making up these stupid fucking 'folksy' labels for stuff? Would it be illegal to kill them?

4. Probably a Glamour mag term.
Yes, it would be illegal. But, oh so satisfying.

Mom jeans. Sheesh.

Poor Barack...he just wanted to be comfy. I am a Mom of two little ones and totally get that, even if they are hideous. :)

11. Hey - I'm wearing my Mom jeans until someone makes blouses and shirts
long enough to hang over my "mom muffin". Just be thankful that I've spared the rest of you from that sight!

14. Good for you! I honestly don't know which fashion designer started this
trend of pants that don't even go past the pubic area! They look ghastly, especially when that "muffin" of which you speak looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy has been permitted to rise for far too long! I've had enough of pleated bellies hanging over pants from one view, and asscrack from the other. There's only so much averting of one's eyes that one can do.

I am astounded the style has lasted so long. It's ... well, unflattering (to be kind) to most people, and the rare few who can pull it off and not look absurd would look equally good in anything else.

I have clothing that's thirty year old, that I still wear. Sturdy stuff, made to last!

It made me weep for what our country's become. It's a fucking miracle Obama was elected.

I thought he looked fine. He was simply wearing comfortable jeans.

And as far as I'm concerned this President would look in anything! :)

24. Merideth Viera should stick to interviewing Susan Boyle...
The whole interview was a big, fat, stinking joke! She'd keep asking the same crap over and over again because she didn't like, or more likely, couldn't comprehend the President's answers. The woman is an imbecile (so, she fits in with everyone else on that show, with the possible exception of Al Roker.) I cannot believe ANYONE would pay that nitwit the millions of dollars she makes every year. The only thing she seemed concerned about was whether or not she was going to have to pay more in taxes. Waste. Of. Flesh.

As for the "mom jeans", when I saw them that night, I did not think twice about them. All I could think of when the subject came up was, "Who fucking cares?" Can you imagine the hoopla had he worn something tighter? Our President is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't...

37. The jeans were 10,000 times better than those pants he had on.....
.... for the Anderson Cooper interview in Ghana. Did Eisenhower leave those behind and Barack found them? I swear the waistband was up to his arm pits!

That is unacceptable!

He's destroying American with his pleated front pants!!!!!
