Secret Service Cut Corners on Obama's Protection

from Politics Daily, Carl M. Cannon, Senior Washington Correspondent

"Secret Service Cut Corners on Obama's Protection"
"The U.S. Secret Service has cut corners in ways that may have jeopardized the safety of President Obama, according to a new book by a veteran Washington journalist and author, Ron Kessler. "
<snip>
"While the agents assigned to protect Obama and other principals are described as dedicated and valiant, Kessler asserts that in recent years the management of the agency "has betrayed its mission by cutting corners, risking the assassination of President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and their families," the publisher says. One current agent tells the author: "It's a miracle we have not had a successful assassination."

WTF? If ever we needed MORE protection for our President, it is NOW.

2. That is very creepy. Wonder why they are cutting corners now when they
didn't under Bush/Cheney. Very suspicious.

7. Obama's top secret service agent fired
A Secret Service Agent, responsible for protecting President Obama, was fired today under questionable reasons, according to top aides. The Agent was reportedly tired of overhearing personal gripes by the Obama Family about certain demograhics in the United States.

LiveLeak link, so grain of salt and all that

14. This sure sounds a like a huge load of bull hockey
1) his TOP secret service agent? but they don't know who he is? So how do they know it's his "top" agent?
2) "according to top aides" Let's see: Axelrod, Jarrett, or Emmanuel. Yeah, uh huh. I can hear them now tsk-tsking over how unfair Obama is.
3) This guy was "reportedly tired of overhearing personal gripes by the Obama Family about certain demograhics(sic)." What a sensitive soul. Perhaps he heard something disparaging about the birthers. Or the a$$hat R's in Congress. And if true, I can see why such sensitivity would hamper his ability to serve and protect the President and his family.
4) He wasn't fired. He was removed from his position guarding the Obama family. Very wise, if ANY of this is true.

15. 4) is my take
I'm betting the guy himself is the source of the leak. He probably made some crack and was removed for it.

9. Secret Service is under Geithner
The Secret Service is in the Treasury Department. So, all those Goldman Sachs/ banker friendly appointments are actually responsible for Obama's safety.

Great. I would prefer that the S.S. was under the purview of the Justice Department, or better yet, independent of all Cabinet Departments.

10. Wrong
The Secret Service became part of the Department of Homeland Security in 2003 when Bush created the DHS. Prior to that the Secret Service was part of the Department of Treasury. So Geithner has no jurisdiction over the Secret Service.

12. Not sure if I belive this guy knows what he's talking about.
When I saw Obama in Charlotte during the election they had snipers on all the buildings. They had clothed security, and probably undercover in the crowd. He wasn't even President yet. I would like to think that his protection is even greater now than it was then.
