"Seven Reasons Not to Bet Against Obama on Health Care"
Seven Reasons Not to Bet Against Obama on Health Care

1. Reid, Pelosi, and the applicable committee chairs all are still on board (no one has taken their marbles and left, in part because the White House congressional affairs office has a great ear and many eyes).

2. Senators Grassley and Snowe haven't given up.

3. Rahm Emanuel knows what's possible.

4. If he can get a bill to conference committee, the press will start implicitly cheering more for success, and stop obsessing over every setback.

5. The health care industry and business community are still largely supportive.

6. Labor unions are likely to give in (maybe) at one or two critical moments.

7. Obama is not rattled.

1. One more reason...
Obama made a personal commitment to Ted Kennedy to see that this gets done...

4. Numbers 3 and 5 do not fill me with hope or joy
I want the bloodsuckers destroyed, not largely supportive. And Rahm, well, I don't trust that slimy backroom dealer any more than I do the leeches who make up the insurance scammers.

5. One more, one more reason.
Obama's mother died of breast cancer and the insurance would not cover treatments.
So this is personal for Obama.

7. I think the same thing every time he says "pre-existing conditions"
.... would not surprise me one bit to find out this has been a torch he's been carrying for the last fifteen years.

10. No offense taken .......
.... there but for the grace of God (or the health insurers perhaps) go all of us.

If we all that much righteous indignation we might actually get something done.

9. This is our fight too
If we sit on our hands - Health Care Reform will fail. Congress has too many reasons to do nothing but we can play a pivotal role in making this happen. Talk to your friends and neighbors, phone and email members of congress including the roadblock Blue Dogs. It doesn't matter if you are in their district or not - we need a massive volume of contacts. Our congress members need to understand there is a real penalty for doing nothing. Remind members of the House that they are ALL on the chopping block in 2010.

This is not just the President's fight - its our fight too.

11. Except mine who is running for governor....
.... Zach Wamp (yes, the very one Rachel has been talking about on her show) .... and one of my Senators is the ranking GOP member of the Health committee. So I feel pretty powerless.

But I do have a bit spending money ..... and donating it last night to help fight the GOP attack machine felt pretty good. ;)

13. Tell me about it...
I live in Idaho - IDAHO! Possibly the reddest state in the union - but I'm still writing, phoning, and emailing! But I'll tell you what, since you provided a link - I'm off to give them more money for the fight, so Thanks!
