The Mormon gift of the "Family Tree" to the Obama family |
should explicitly state the birthplace of our President. Is there any way we could get that part out there and shut these "birthers" up once and for all? Geneology researched by the Mormons should be the last word on this. Any thoughts?

1. I like your thinking, but these whackjobs probably wouldn't believe |
the Mormons either. They're denying reality with all the noise they're making. Most everyone is pointing that out (well, maybe not faux and the r/w talking heads), yet they continue to make fools of themselves.

2. You'd think it would work, |
since Mormons are usually Republicans. Of course, having seen some very sloppy uncited research at the Mormon genealogical site, I'd have to see the actual tree to find out how well it was done. Any link to it? And do you happen to know if Obama has any Revolutionary War ancestors? The reason I ask is if he does, he's eligible to join the Sons of the American Revolution--yeah, a conservative group, but the point is they are VERY strict on citations to get into the group, and anyone who can prove descent is without a doubt who they purport to be.

3. What a great question. I don't know how far back his Irish heritage |
goes but when the Irish emigrated here many fought in the Civil War. They felt it was their duty to fight for their "new country." Sons of the American Revolution, wow, that would cause many head explosions. I have not seen a link but since this was for the President, I'm at least hoping this would not be sloppy uncited research. Harry would be quite embarrassed...

6. Most research done on Familysearch.org is done by amateurs. |
The Church uses professionals for jobs like this, it will all be cited and noted. I am personally curious to know how far back they got on the President's Kenyan line, if they had access to oral histories and such?

4. There is no way that one will be able to "shut these 'birthers' up once and for all." |
They love this insane "cause celebre" and wouldn't believe God Herself if She told them directly ... even if She adopted a masculine avatar to do so. By their adherence to this cause, we shall know them for what they are: stark raving mad lunatics.

5. It would be nice if it could be taken as unequivocal proof, but the birthers are fanatics. |
They would just lump the Mormons in with the Hawaiian nurses, the Marxists, the Muslims and the Flying Spaghetti Monster as part of the grand conspiracy to put President Obama in the White House.
That said, unlike some of the "sloppy research" likely seen on the Church's website Familysearch.org, the research for the Obamas would have been done by the Church's professional Genealogists, it may be considered authoritative by anyone who does not drink from Orly Taitz's personal batch of Kool-Aid. Hence, there should be absolutely no doubt that President Obama is a US citizen, if he wasn't, we'd know.
