if they can destroy Obama's healthcare reform, they can break his presidency. All they need is the help of a few bluedogs. They have that. The stakes are incredibly high. This isn't just about healthcare reform. It's about destroying Obama.

1. I pray that in trying to destroy Obama's Presidency they destroy themselves. |
|
No one can doubt the seriousness with which MOST of America views the need for healthcare reform.

9. I find your statement to be buying into the meme of the Repubilcans. |
|
The Republicans made their statement to box Obama into a corner. When people start believing and pushing said meme they make it a reality. As such they destroy all the important moves he's made in the last six months and discredit any future movements he might make. It also weakens his positions by pushing said meme, on over turning much needed legislation such as the repeal of DOMA and DADT. He would have no clout in Congress if everything he has is dependent on the push of Health care.
I'm not about to buy into that meme and I'm surprised people are agreeing with that sort of crap. It's the ultimate move to marginalize any future successes or positions. The success of his Presidency is dependent on a whole slew of things, policies, and positions---not just health care. Just to make his Presidency about his one issue pisses me the hell off and any support of Republican stupidity doesn't help Obama in the least.

6. This is why it is critical reform be passed. If not now, then when? |
|
After the President has staked his claim and promised it will happen, there is no alternative. He will sign a bill. Exactly what "reform" looks like - how watered-down it is - remains to be seen.

11. It would be a Pyrrhic victory for DeMint. |
|
No health care reform accelerates national bankruptcy, these fools won't break the President, they will break the nation and the outcome may be far worse than anything their reptile brains can possibly imagine.

14. Dramatic corporate media whore-driven narrative |
|
The notion that Obama's Presidency will be irretrievably damaged if health care reform fails (which i don't personally believe is likely to happen anyway), seems highly illogical to me and I don't know if there was any Presidency where a "failure" on any single policy initiative doomed their entire Presidency (I could be wrong but nothing is coming to mind right now). The failure of Bush's
Of course, making it seem like his Presidency hinges solely on the success or failure of his health care reform initiative and that a titanic battle is being waged RIGHT NOW for the soul of our nation makes for a *gripping narrative*- even if it doesn't track with reality. But then again, remember what somebody in the Bush Administration told Ron Suskind about their perception of reality:
The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
