We have to Fight the media and congress, because this is a Life or Death matter!
Just like we fought against the Iraq war back in 2001-2002, we have to fight again.

We lost that one, but we can't afford to lose this one.

The good news is that the Left has made much progress in communications in the last 7 years.

The bad news is that we can't sit back and hope that others make it happen;
we have to get involved in fighting the propaganda being spread by the media as we speak.

If we all do a small part, then we can possibly hit back at the tide of institutional enemies
who are now fighting against any Health Care reform.

We lose this fight, and the chances of winning others become miniscule.

Those holding out for Single Payer Health, please know that we need you now,
regardless of what it is that you want....because at this rate, we won't be getting anything
ever (or something close to that). I told you so is not an option that helps those Americans who are desperate.

Please send out some emails and make some calls and show the aggresive enemy that this ain't about breaking the President, this is about Americans.
It ain't about Obamacare, it's about AmeriCare!
It's about not allowing the media to once again excert their influence over the populace and persuading them that what is bad for them is good for them.

Let the media know that we already pay for healthcare now. Yes, we pay for the healthcare of the uninsured, so the money being spent on healthcare will be spent regardless...but without any reform, we will be killing folks rather than making them well at generally the same cost.

Also let them know that if we could afford the war of choice that they so supported at the cost of a trillion dollars, then we can afford health care reform.

Come on...let's get this done! They have to make some loud noise, and we have to do it now.
It is a matter of Life and Death, and nothing less.

that's what!

Swiftboating Health Care Reform.
Remember how Kerry didn't respond quickly,
while we waited him to?

Well we can't wait.
Not this time.

3. what's happening? The full court press against it--that's what.
We've got to remind our congress people we are watching and becoming quite angry/frustrated by the coordinated efforts by industry and media to drag the health care debate out until it dies in a quiet whimper some time next year.

WE CAN'T ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN!!

6. You are right on FrenchieCat. The media won't help, and neither
will Congress. It's up to the people. It is so frustrating trying to fight the media, the big money that has the resources to run the misinformation and scare tactic ads, etc. The only way is to support the advocates who are fighting with us. Use the internet and the blogs, as the president suggested. I thing our enemies underestimate the power of the internet to get the real word out. Hopefully that will be their downfall. Thanks so much for all the contacts you posted.

10. We have 60 Senate Votes and a huge majority in the House..
We need to get what we can get NOW. And quickly! We won't have this much power forever. Your idea ensures that the system will remain the same for the foreseeable future.

11. It is really quick! I called both Reid and Baucus' offices
at the posted urging of pretzelwarrior, and really folks, you can get through. Yes they do listen, and keep a tally of what people are talking about (ask Russ Feingold, he'll tell you that contacting them is VERY important).
If every du-er made 2-3 phone calls it would help.

So do it. Now.

There, now I've put my teacher-voice to work.

17. fuck the media. we need to contact our congress people. they actually can get voted out.
I think the biggest surprise for people like Gordon Smith and other "moderate" Republicans was just how angry the American people were with Bush and the GOP name. We can ensure the congress people get the idea that NOT enacting the people's will and their desire for meaningful health care reform could be a career limiting move.
