Clinton, Biden in 2016? (CNN)
From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

(CNN) – It appears that two high ranking members of the Obama administration haven't entirely ruled out seeking the presidency again.

First, Vice President Joe Biden said last month that a third White House bid in 2016 — when he would be 73 — is not something he has completely closed the door on.

"No, I won't. I won't rule that out. No," the vice president said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Now, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who battled President Obama for the 2008 Democratic nomination, told a Thai television station she doesn't know if she will have White House ambitions in the future, though quickly made clear it's not something she has given thought to.

"I don't know, but I doubt very much that anything like that will ever be part of my life," Clinton, who would be 68 in 2016, told the television station, according to the Associated Press.

1. Neither, please
Much as I respect them both I think we'll have a surplus of young and exciting new Democrats ready to take the national stage at that point!

25. Either, please.
Looking back on the Obama presidency as a smashing success, why wouldn't we want those who played a significant role to keep the ball rolling.

4. CNN are whores
I listened to Hillary on NPR this afternoon and she says she is too busy to even think about running for President in the future. And my opinion is that if she was still interested it would not happen until after Obama's 2nd term.

9. Perspective check
At this point in the Bush Administration (summer of 2001), the man who would succeed him as President was a little-known Illinois state legislator who had just been blown out of the water in a congressional primary.

I assume at that point, even Obama would not have considered he had a chance for President, even the US Senate in 3 years was an incredible long shot. Clinton/Biden makes no sense. Biden will have been VP for 8 years - no one wants to be VP for 16. He will either retire or run for President.

As to HRC, if she couldn't win with the media effectively crowning her the inevitable Democratic nominee the day Kerry conceded, after speaking of the possibility since the 1990s, when Bill Clinton was still the strongest voice in the party, when she had a network of fundraisers stronger than anyone else, and she was 8 years younger, it is mindboggling to think she has a chance in 2016. I think the only chance she would have is if Obama replaced Biden with Clinton - which I think is unlikely.

I don't think Obama is going to toss out Biden, even though the HRC fans in the media want that. I assume that it would happen only if Biden had personal reasons to want to step down - which I hope will not happen. Even if Obama did, I would suspect he would replace him with someone who would be seen as an Obama protege. HRC is one person who would not be seen that way. (this is not attacking her, neither would John Kerry or any other senior, well known person.) I don't know who would fit this, but think of someone like Senator Klobichar, if she has acted as a leader on anything and assuming that she is in sync with him on major issues. At that point, Obama would be looking to his legacy, not the restoration of the Clintons.

37. There are some - some - not as many as in 2006 and 2007
There are others who are the complete opposite - there is nothing she could do that would make them happy. Do you remember that throughout 2005 Stephanopolis asked every Democrat on his show, with a huge smile, what they thought of Hillary 2008?

HClinton had a window of opportunity in 2007-08 and it took a hit in the cold fields of Iowa in January of 08. She was not out of the picture going forward but Barack Obama had set the boundaries of the race with that stunning victory.

I'm not seeing HClinton anywhere near the Democratic nomination in 2016.

20. SOS Clinton will challenge the President during the
2012 primary. It would probably be her last best shot at the office. Whether she has a real chance will depend on outcomes on issues like the economy, Afghanistan/Iraq, health care etc. I do not see here going quietly into the night. JMO.

sweeping it across the table, since strange things do happen in politics.

On the other hand, I think she had her shot in 2007-08 and did not prevail. She lost in Iowa to Obama and Edwards, finishing third. Her candidacy remained viable after that well into late spring but she was never again the "inevitable" nominee who had led handsomely in public polling for well over a year leading up to the last week of December 07.

From my seat iout in the right field bleachers I don't think incumbent Obama will see any challenge in 2012.

33. Oh please. Clinton will NEVER primary Obama. It doesn't matter if things are horrible by then.
Ain't going to happen.

Kennedy did it to Carter and is partly responsible for the Reagan era.

No sitting President since then has been primaried and Hillary isn't going to be the one to break that tradition.

Geesh. CDS.

How many people on this board knew who Obama was in 2005? Maybe 1/3 - and we're the total junkies.

The person we're nominating 7 YEARS from now will most likely be someone no body on this board has yet heard of. And I like it that way!
