So I went off a bit on my republican friend in a e-mail
So, I have a very good friend who is a Republican. He's a very cool guy to hang out with but for a long time now, his political views have eaten away at me. Like, one time, for example, he told me that Mccain/Palin were change from Bush. Err...not so much. Anyway, he is also a very very big fan of primetime TV. Anyway, I've seen posts of his on other websites like TV guide, etc., blasting the networks for covering the prsident's address and he's said stuff to me like "god, I hope ABC doesn't cover it." Anyway, today, he sent a E-mail and I went off on him kind of. I don't mind disagreeing with the president's policies but freaking out over the president taking one hour every once in a while on all the networks is a bit unreasonable I think. So, I wrote this in reply. Now I do admit that I hadn't eaten much and was a bit cranky with the huge workload that I had today but I'm tired of it. This is the text:

Several things:
1. We don't know who voted in this poll. Are they freepers? Did a conservative site direct them to the poll.
2. Even if accurate, no matter the politician, most joe 6=packs wouldn't want to see a politician anyway as they are too stupid to understand what politics is alll about.
3. There is a law that grants networks permission to air on public airwaves. Part of their responsibility is to air news/information programming. They are not entitled by law to simply air "junk food programming" all day.
4. Where was the network criticism of Bush using primetime for immigration, Iraq news, oval office addresses, etc.
5. I REALLY SEE RED about this and polls like this. Like BIG TIME. What is so wrong with the president wanting to communicate with the people that he was elected to serve to let them know how he is doing instead of being filtered through Sean Hannity's biased eyes. Get a life TV guide poll viewers. If I could speak to the poll voters, I'd say this: "If you are going to get all upset because the president disrupts 1 hour of your precious time to watch I survived a Japanese game show or whatever appalling fair the networks are offering to provide an update on the status of the nation, well fuck off. My god will you ever survive not being able to watch 1 hour of rerun or summertime filler fare. 1 hour guys-1 hour guys. It won't kill you. No wonder scientists and mathmeticians have to be imported from other countries. The country is dumbed down beyond belief."

Oh and LOL, don't think I'm having a bad day. It's all good. I'm just tired of this. Flash red over this:

Anyway TTYL.

> LOL, that says a LOT considering it's the middle of summer and not a lot is on.

> Also, I really wish the networks would either stop complaining about the lost revenue from these(with no ads), or refuse to air them. I bet if this were late September they would. To me the only reason they aren't is because as I have said, there's nothing really huge on this time of year.

I haven't heard anything from him since. LOL. I don't think I said anything unreasonable do you? I'm sure it's all good but I probably offended him a bit. He's offended me as well, however.

1. I think you showed restraint. My reply would not have been as nice.
Seriously it is one hour which if you have cable you don't even have to watch. I believe you are right about the dumbing down of the country. It is rather sad and pathetic.
