1. Hee hee....it's awful, but it's funny too, in a sick kind of way.
And it's a good thing, in that same sick way, that this subject is getting a little attention.

Even if Sgt Jim Crowley of the Cambridge PD had to be a jerk to light it off.

I still can't believe that guy's name!

3. In retrospect what Obama could have said. . .
. . .was no matter what you accomplish in life we (Black men) are always viewed by certain segments of the population as criminals or unAmerican.

5. Let's see the MSM chase THAT angle
framing it that way may just get them to drop the subject.

8. This is more true than the responses would suggest
High achieving African Americans are constantly reminded that all those hours of study, all those books, all those invited appearances, all those accolades and awards and degrees and fancy titles don't mean jack shit when the 5-0 roll up. It's not a trite comparison.

White people SIMPLY DON'T SEE THEM or BELIEVE WHAT THEY SEE and if your words counter their assumptions they SIMPLY DON'T HEAR THEM.
That's just a given in daily life. With cops that given ALWAYS has the potential of injury or death.

My "funny" (only in retrospect) story: I was milling about the club WITH MY HORN IN HAND AND REED IN MOUTH waiting to be called to the stage.

I was approached 5 times before I got there and each conversation was more or less on these lines:

"Oh, YOU must be the singer!"
I just waved my horn back and forth in front of my face.
"And what are you going to sing?"

By the fifth encounter on my way up, my last nerve had been worked and I asked, "Are your assumptions SO DEEP that you cannot see the instrument I'm holding? Or do you just not know what it is?"

At the mic I said, Now some of you may think I'm gonna just hold onto this thing as a prop while I sing but I assure you I'm no singer. (I croaked out a few notes.) This is an oboe and I'm an oboist." I called Jobim's "How Insensitive." It's a crowd pleaser. ;-)
