Can I get a witness? on health care reform |
|
I have not see so much misconstrued , misunderstood, misstated, and misleading info on how to pay for health reform than what I have been seeing lately in the mass media..and the right wing talking points.
As I understand it..
What the right wingers, and media do not get.. this is not free insurance for most, except for people like my brother who makes minimum wage at a restaurant that has no health coverage. Even then there is minimum payment.
It is an option program, that we are going to pay for, just like we do now with our insurance. IT IS NOT A TAX PROGRAM. It is a program to lower insurance costs by competition, with the Feds being the control program to fall back on.. forcing all the private industries to compete also.
It is a protection so that we cannot be kicked off our programs we choose after 15 years when we develop serious illness.
You pay for insurance anywhere you live in the world, either through taxes or private companies.
It is not like this is some big giveaway program like the Republicans do with no way to pay for it.
What part of this are they not getting? Am I wrong?

1. and I would add that it will include people with pre-existing conditions... |

The Repugnants get it- they just know that if this passes, they won't have a leg to stand on. This will be victory for the American people, and Obama, plus their lobbyist insurance and pharma company friends will be in hot water.

3. Where did you get the 15 year figure? I never heard that before... was it just an example? |
|
Everything else you say gibes with my understanding as well. Except that they may tax high-income families to help pay for those who cannot afford it. That part is still under consideration.

4. That was a personal experience that happened to a friend |
|
She had her insurance for 15 years, developed a catastrophic disease, and they dropped her. Fifteen years she paid into that system, and when she needed it.. they dropped her.
