Rescission (cancellation) of policies and prior condition denials need to end IMMEDIATELY in reform.

Not as being reported in year 2011 for rescission and in 2013 for prior condition denials. I was just made aware of these facts in another thread - (thank you fellow DUers!) The costs should be no more than anyone else in a group or the average costs of the 3 largest groups covered by the insurer if the person is not employed.

There really can be only one reason for not implementing these regulatory changes immediately, and that would be if a side deal had been cut with insurers to allow them to inflate their profits on the backs of ill Americans for just a few more years.

I call on President Obama to make these reforms a second line in the sand along with the public option. That would be real change and immediate change that would directly and immediately effect millions of Americans who would find a way to afford coverage if they were allowed to have it at anything approaching an "affordable" costs.

1. Right. It's hard to see this as a substantial reform...
...if insurers can just cancel ones policy the minute he or she gets sick.

3. the prior condition denials etc. could be ended this week by congress
all Congress has to do is to pass legislation quickly to end this. An emergency session could be held right now!

4. That would be a great thing to do before a recess to show they are serious and to make an immediate
difference.

They could probably do it in one page.

7. 2011 and 2013. You can see these guys have insurance and have never had to worry about it.

Why should people who have waited that long for an insurance have to wait longer?

They also need to be sure that people with a prior conditions are not discriminated concerning prices. It is one thing for insurances to offer a plan. It is a different thing to offer the same plan at the same price.
