He said the press conference was to give details to the American people about what the public option would look like.

Obama had a meeting with Baucus (head of the financial committee) an hour before the press conference to get the details. Baucus didn't have any information for him. He said they're not ready yet.

So Obama couldn't give the explanation he had planned.

Obama didn't fail... Baucus failed.

32. I am watching Hardball again and Chuckie did say that Obama failed because he (The Presdient) did

not explain to the country what the health plan was all about. Chris Matthews' other guest seemed to agree with Chuckie Toadd. Chuck Todd also said that Rahm Emanuel has been in the House of Reps all week long and he is finding a recalcitrant bunch of Blue Dog Democrats. Todd said that Obama and Rahm do not seem to get anything out of the Senate and that is why the House is reluctant to pass anything that may be used against them (the Democrats in swing districts) come election time by the GOP. So it looks like the MSM is now on full attack mode against President Obama.
