http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/index.html“Abstinence-only” programs: the public opposes them.
President Obama’s budget for next year eliminates funding for them.
And, thankfully, a key congressional committee followed suit by zeroing out funding for these failed program.
Now, we need your help to make sure the U.S. House of Representatives continues the trend. Urge your representative to oppose spending for “abstinence-only” programs and invest instead in teen-pregnancy prevention programs that work.
The House is scheduled to vote on a bill as early as tomorrow (Thursday, July 23) that eliminates funding from “abstinence-only” programs that censor information about birth control. We helped defeat a last-minute anti-choice amendment in a House committee that would have extended funding -- but we could face more legislative attacks when the bill comes to the floor, and the vote is going to be close.
We only have a few more hours to send a message to Congress that the best way to prevent teen pregnancy and help young people avoid sexually transmitted disease is to provide comprehensive, factual sex education in the classroom. Send your message today!
Your email will make a difference. NARAL Pro-Choice America staff are working with key lawmakers right now to make sure we have the votes to win, and to prepare for attacks. Help show members of the House that the public is overwhelmingly with us -- take action today.
