Here we go . . . they're now turning this into "poor white cop accused of being a racist because
he responded to a robbery call and even the president accused him of being a racist even after admitting he didn't know all the facts."

Of course, the facts don't matter:

No one has accused the officer of "racism" - but that is the favorite strawman of apologists, defenders and others who don't want to honestly discuss race in America.

The President, when asked whether he thought race was involved in the arrest, said he didn't have enough facts to say but that based on what he did know, the arrest was stupid. A very different thing.

Unfortunately, this is turning into what the media always turns these things into - a circus.

1. Hey, I found it disrespectful for the cops and unions to criticize the President. who has every
right to say what he wants.

6. Just shows how they think they run the U.S., proves the point on how they treat
the average citizen.

4. When the President made the remark about racial profiling, he was also very specific
about saying "SEPARATE AND APART" from the Gates incident.

The man is no fool. He was a goddamned Constitutional lawyer; he knows where the boundaries are.

These cops are sputtering because one of them DID do something stupid and they can't handle any sort of criticism. Pretty weak.

At any rate, if the media wants to turn this into the new distraction du jour, let them. There have been way too many incidents of police abuse that, if not for the luck of a working surveillance camera or a passerby with a cellphone, would have been a case of police vs. victim/perp.

If it makes one of those abusive jerks think twice before abusing their power, then it's worth it.

5. He wasn't accused of racism -- his department was accused of stupidity.
And truth is (or should be) an absolute defense.
