President Obama has taken the stinger out of this bug bite. We need to do this too.

I am not saying we should EVER go back on our principles of fairness under the law. Or our opposition to racism.

But this argument was circling down the drain. It was getting everybody nowhere. And most importantly, it allowed the MSM and the RW to take over the public's attention and detract from getting the health care reform we so badly need. We were not doing ourselves any favors.

No we have a chance to defuse. We take away the stick the Republicans like to beat us with in the media. The show's over. Time to pack up the lights and the cameras and go home.

Let's get back to work on health care reform and the other issues we care about.

4. I say, let the fockers argue among themselves if they wish. I we don't play
they don't get their little controversy. It will die a natural death...

Who would have thought that "Come over to the White House and have a beer with me" could be such a great way to resolve this issue?

It is a shining moment and he should be very proud of himself.

8. What is so great is that Obama took personal responsibility to be part of
the solution, not the problem, and it probably advances race relations without seeming to disregard the issue of racism. Obama saw two individuals locked in an emotional confrontation with no seeming way out without a fight. Obama took a step back and looked at it. He did the right thing. Beautiful.

13. I agree.
Not that I think we shouldn't have a good discussion about race and racism in this country, but the the direction of this story wasn't going in a good direction. Hopefully, we have learned from this, and we can move past it since all sides involved, including the President, seem to want to do that as well.

14. It helps to have a President who realizes that this polarization is NO GOOD for any of us.
He sprung himself, and the rest of us, out of it...

thank god for Obama...

15. Sorry I can't agree
This is not an isolated incident. The disparate treatment of African Americans in the criminal justice system is very real. It isn't a distraction. Speak for yourself when you say it isn't an issue that "we" care about.
