So, no health care reform today, the Senate is packing it in, the House |

might rise again, and it will happen. Or not.
What is your best guess?
I'm betting on the Prez, but I could be wrong. Or right. :D
Did I mention I'm betting on the President, and those that care to keep up the pressure?

1. This does not seem like something our president is going to "let go" of... |
|
They can walk but there will be consequences.

2. They can go home and get earfuls from their constituents |
|
which might result in a better bill than if they ramit through just to meet an imaginary deadline.

8. This would require an army of the uninsured, camping on the blue dog's |
|
doorsteps. Sadly.. the people in their poor, health-care starved districts are fed a constant diet of lies by Limbaugh & Hannity.. with no countervailing voice to bring the facts to them..
Who will tell the people?

6. It'll happen if Obama decides to get mean and fight |
|
otherwise, all people can expect is window dressing. And double digit premium increases every single year- even as health insurers pile up obscene profits.

It seems like they are hell bent on getting nothing done before the Summer recess.
We should change the motto of Congress:
"The only job you can have where you can sit on your ass and don't have to get anything done."

13. At minimum, HR 3200 will make it to the floor this week. |
|
It's scheduled to go back into markup after Waxman gave Mike Ross a spanking! It's back on track!
And if Pelosi & co. can rally enough troops, she might keep the House an extra day or two and actually pass the bill!
The Senate's being a fucking pain in the ass right now - once the House is seen to be making progress, it's all hands on deck to make life difficult for Blue Cross Baucus!

14. I hope we can change what's been done, regulate insurance cos. so they really don't dump to public |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-26-09 02:19 PM by MarjorieG
what is unprofitable, so that we can get drugs negotiated for Medicare's (or are we locked in to all of Baucus' bad deals?). If we could just bring down Medicare age, even 10 years at a pop, slowly; a mechanism for the uninsured on Medicaid/Medicare; and reform worst practices of insurance companies with specifics. Insurance's mere promises to find better administrative costs savings doesn't wash, because they want profit.
I fully appeciate this is a start, but an easier sell-and prove GOP wrong-if Bill with real merit. Although single payer best, doesn't need to be if really regulated.
If we can do this without a mandate, I'd feel better. Unless extremely generous hardship and low cost consideration.
And, yes, I bet on Obama.
