Anyone ever see the D.W. Griffith film of the early 1900's which was marked for it's revisionism of the Civil War Era, and glorification of the KKK? It is notable in film history as the first "blockbuster" film, which spawned riots. It is a relic, much like the "Birther" movement of not so latent racism. I was thinking about that film this weekend when I was trying to wrap my head around how people could believe such nonsense.
If it's wrapped in a pretty bow, propaganda supporting your crazy ideas can and will sell. With today's media being what it is, you don't even need to make a blockbuster film to sell nonsense. You just need some nonsense to sell.
