What not to wear in Martha's Vineyard.
When President Obama and his family visit MV next month he might consider NOT buying Black Dog stuff that is on every tourist's body on that island. It was once kinda cute but now the merchandising has gotten out of hand and the BD brand a bit downscale to many of the island's annual visitors.

Better choices: Menemsha Blues T shirts in nice washed out colors with a great big bluefish right on it. Also, go for the Chappy T shirt. Only the "in" crowd really knows about/wears a Chappy (the island folks reference to well, you know...). You may not want to wear the Chappy shirt if you are in the company of a Kennedy, however.

I have kept my Black Dog T shirt from my first visit to the island since it has the date 1999 on it, and that was the year that JFK, Jr. was lost flying there. I don't wear it, tho...

14. That was a while back. There was a pic taken of him buying the T shirt
in one of the Black Dog stores. Photo op. Later it was a bit of an embarrassment, to say the least...

3. I've never been there so I have no point of reference
But if it's like my experience of Cape Cod when I was 8 years old I'm fine with my lack of experience.

Note: Cape Cod is fine. My relatives who I was visiting for the summer were not.

22. It was the name of a little shop in Edgartown. The owner had a black lab and it became
the logo. There have been spoofs, such as the Dead Dog, featuring a dog's skeleton. And some other ones. None of them seemed to last. BD goes on...

20. Never heard of black dog t shirts Just googled them and I doubt I'd wear one.
$24 for a t-shirt? I can afford it but I like my K-mart t's. I can get a bunch for $24 and I'll bet black dog is made somewhere in China near to where the K-mart shirts are made.

21. And buy Smart Pop popcorn instead of Cheese Doodles
White cheese dust is preferable to orange cheese dust.

Also, natives don't wear the lobster bibs in the parking lot after the meal.
