Any Blue Dog Democrats against Public Option who are running in 2010 or 2012 need to know... |
|
...that the netroots, grassroots and other forms of underground political action are going to make sure they are challenged. I would even say that if they do run against a Republican, I would make sure that a third-party candidate is the preferred choice or not voting for that person at all; perhaps a write-in candidate named "Nano Theobove" (which sounds like none of the above).
"Nano Theobove" could do very well nationally as a write-in candidate.

1. I am all for supporting progressive Dems that run against blue dogs. |
|
But replacing them with republicans, which is what staying home or supporting a third party candidate effectively accomplishes? I'll pass. Whatever clusterfuck we may think we are in right now, it would be nothing compared to what republicans would have done.
In other words I'll take a blue dog over a republican any day.

the second time I have recommended a post of yours. I told mine that if we don't get a strong public option they had better remember 1994 cause it could be coming up real soon.

Let us make sure we make the Blue Dogs scared if they don't fall in line.

3. Every Blue Dog congressperson is of course up for election in 2010 |
|
so we're gonna have to hustle to find primary opposition for these douchebags.
I may be wrong but I think blue dogs is a group limited to the House.
There are plenty of DINO;s in the Senate that I'd contribute to their primary opponents in 2020 and/or 2012 starting with DiFi right here in CA.

House members serve 2-year terms, but our problems aren't really in the House. Our numbers there are strong.
The Senate is where our majority is slim enough to be messed with by the blue dogs. And senators serve staggered 6-year terms, so some are up in 2010, some in 2012, and others not until 2014.
Max Baucus, for example, was just re-elected in 2008, so he can pretty much do whatever the fuck he wants because his seat is safe until 2014.

7. I don't know that it matters what we do if the DNC backs the incumbent in the primary. |
|
Sure, we can find a challenger, but if they don't have party support they'll probably end up severely underfunded.

Blue Dog Rep. Baron Hill is one of those who need to get the message. We should compile a list of Blue Dogs who need to get the message so everyone can contact them to support a Public Option. And if they don't, warn them of what the Progs and grassroots will do to them in the primary.
