Brain Food: Bill Clinton Chows on Double Burger, Onion Rings, French Fries, Milkshake on Eve of Obes
July 27, 2009

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports:

Former President Bill Clinton is one of the featured speakers at today’s inaugural “Weight of the Nation” conference in Washington, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control to focus on obesity prevention and control.

Clinton’s battles with his own weight, of course, are famous -- punctuated by fast-food runs during the early days of his presidency, and the heart bypass operation he needed to undergo in 2004.

How to fuel up for an appearance like today’s conference?

According to The Washington Post’s “Reliable Source” column (which has the photo to prove it), the former president waited in line Saturday night at Z Burger in Washington’s Tenleytown neighborhood, posing for photos and signing autographs as his take-out order was readied.

His order: double burger (hold the mayo), onion rings, French fries, and an apple-pie milkshake.

7. Well if otherwise one keeps healthy eating habits. There's no reason not to do one of these
every now and then. At least he's not eating that McDonald's garbage. Hopefully these burgers do actually taste like something.

16. I've had high cholesterol ever since I hit 30. So there are certain things now that I do
save as "treats". I enjoy them a lot more plus my numbers have improved drastically since I started doing that.

And it's part of why he won, too. We've lost running doe-eyed milksops for office enough times. I'm with ya, baby. :hi:

some mayo. Hmmmm Hmmmm.....

21. No, it could be some wacky flavored milk shake
There's a place in my town that makes unusual shakes, such as cheesecake. During the holidays they have a white chocolate peppermint concoction.

I've eaten some unusual things in my lifetime, but I've never had a turducken. I got to try some next time I'm in Louisiana.

Yeah about Bill, he probably would like it.

41. look at how huge that bag is
maybe he gives himself "free days" when it comes to food. he watches what he eats most of the time but gives himself some days where he can eat whatever.

but couldn't he have just had a regular burger instead of double. and fries AND onion rings ? and to top if off an apple pie milk shake ?????? all of it sounds good other than the apple pie milk shakes. i like apple pie and milk shakes . but a milk shake flavor of apple pie doesn't really sound appealing.

42. Well, he is noticably thinner than he was as Preident, so he likely does not do this often
It does seem he bought a huge amount of greasy, fatty food. It sounds like enough calories for 2 days! I remember when he spoke of having learned the hard way about nutrition and pushing to get junk out of schools. Change is hard though and clearly he fell off the wagon here. For his sake, I hope days like this are few.
